Florien sweeps Pleasant Hill; Indians top Converse

Samiah Scott stopped the bleeding temporarily as Florien used a 7-0 surge to open up a 16-2 lead, with five of the points in the run coming from Aja Law. The Lady Eagles got four more points from Scott before the end of the first period, but the Lady Blackcats were out to an 18-6 lead heading into the second quarter.

EBARB – Just a little over a week ago, the Ebarb Rebels eliminated the Pleasant Hill Eagles in the first round of the Pleasant Hill Tournament. On Saturday night, the Eagles got a little revenge. Propelled by three players in double figures, the Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season with a 59-44 victory over the Rebels in the finals of the Ebarb Tournament.

Blackcats remain unbeaten, knock off Anacoco

FLORIEN – The Florien Blackcats have proven to have the offensive firepower to beat anyone. On Saturday night, they showed they could play a little defense too. The Blackcats remained unbeaten on the season by limiting the Anacoco Indians to just 18 first-half points en route to a 57-42 victory over their rivals from Vernon Parish on homecoming night at FHS.

Tigers run past Delcambre, 47-7

A victory is a victory, even if it wasn’t particularly your best effort. The top-ranked Many Tigers overcame 103 yards in penalties and a pair of turnovers to knock off the No. 32 Delcambre Panthers last Friday night, Nov. 15, in Tiger Stadium in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs, 47-7.

Lady Eagles, Ebarb reach tourney finals

PLEASANT HILL – The Pleasant Hill Lady Eagles reached the finals of their own tournament last Friday night with a 42-37 victory over the Converse Lady Wildcats. Pleasant Hill (2-1) took on the Stanley Lady Panthers in the tourney finals on Saturday, while Converse dropped to 0-2 with the loss.

Florien, Stanley claim titles at PHHS Tournament

PLEASANT HILL – The Florien Blackcats remained unbeaten on the season, defeating the Ebarb Rebels in the finals of the Pleasant Hill Tournament on Saturday, 58-51. The Blackcats are now 4-0 on the season, thanks to the victory. Florien opened the season with a decisive win over Pitkin, before sweeping past Castor, Doyline and Ebarb to claim the tournament championship.

Facing adversity makes teams stronger. After dealing with a multitude of injuries and an unexpected loss in the opening week of District 3-2A play, the Many Tigers seem to be on their way back in a big way.

Braud victorious in Many Bass Club’s monthly tournament

Second place in the October tournament of the Many Bass Club was taken by points leader Derek Mong.
Fishing a Carolina rig on points, points and more points, Tim Braud won the October Tournament of the Many Bass Club with a fivefish stringer weighing in at 13.23 pounds. Braud, an experienced and quality class Toledo Bend fisherman, reeled in his fish in the Cypress Bend area on grassy points in 8-14 feet of water.

OAKDALE – John Keats once penned, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” The third-ranked Many Tigers committed 10 penalties for 90 yards and turned the ball over four times, hardly a thing of beauty.

Lady Blackcats prevail against Castor, 57-51

HORNBECK – After trailing for the majority of the first half, the Florien Lady Blackcats came to life. Behind solid play from Aja Law and Shy Herrington, the Lady Blackcats were able to overcome an early deficit to top the Castor Lady Tigers on Saturday at the Hornbeck Hall of Fame event, 57-51.
