Tigers trounce Menard at Homecoming

The Many Tigers continued their winning ways during the Homecoming game on October 13, during which they decimated the Holy Savior Menard Eagles 42-0.

The first half was a fairly slow affair, as two experienced running backs, who make up a good bit of the Tiger offensive unit either did not play or were out briefly. AJ Carter, who has committed to play for the UCLA Bruins, remained out the entire game while Shacori Collier, sat out the first half.

Youth represent Sabine at 2017 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships

The arrows were flying and the guns were blazing as four Sabine Parish 4H-ers attended the National Championships in June at Grand Island, Nebraska. 635 of the top shots in the nation gathered to showcase their skills while they competed in various disciplines. Our youth represented the parish well and were able to bring home the medals.

These top competitors worked their way through the ranks by competing first at the regional level and then on to the state  level in order to gain their spot on the Louisiana State teams.

Tigers fall to North DeSoto

The Many Tigers were dealt a heartbreaking loss against the North DeSoto Griffins on September 15 as they traveled for their first of four away games in a row. An almost unheard of four fumbles and North DeSoto’s two scores in the third quarter were easily the deciding factors in the game. Things started commonly for the Tigers, as UCLA-committed running back AJ Carter went 67 yards on the second down of the game to put the Tigers up 6-0. A two-point conversion was denied. The Griffins were forced into a punt on their first possession.

Tigers dominate early season, move to 2-0

To say the Many Tigers aren’t hungry this year does a huge disservice to the team. Out of the gate they are dominating the competition as they pursue a second state championship.The team opened their season on September 1 against Peabody, and soundly defeated the team 40-0. The next week, it was Marksville’s turn, as the Many Tigers trounced them 50-12.

“Unfinished business” describes Tigers in 2017

“Unfinished business” has been the motto of the Many Tigers for several years now. After a bitter defeat in the playoffs last year to eventual champions, Sterling, the team is looking for another trip to the Super Dome in New Orleans.

Football: America’s Favorite Sport

Earlier this year, a Harris Poll announced that football retains its long-time status as America’s favorite sport.

In 1985, professional baseball was only marginally behind football, as 23 percent of sports fans named it as their favorite sport, to college football’s 24 percent. Now, football holds an 18-percentage point lead, with 33 percent choosing pro football as their favorite sport and 15 percent selecting baseball.
