Slaughter lands monster bass

After being named the number one bass lake in the United States, Toledo Bend is definitely living up to that title as Louis Slaughter landed a 13.15 pound lunker bass on February 2 while fishing around the dam on a swim bait.

Many Bass Club holds January tournament

Jimmy Campbell won the Many Bass Club’s January 2016 tournament with a five fish stringer weighing 17.24 lbs, which included included the 5.26 lb lunker big bass of the tournament. Campbell caught his fish using a pumpkin green Mister Twister Hang 10 ribbon tail worm in shallow water around grass in the Palo Gaucho area of the lake.

CrossFit allows Anderson to meet goals

(Editor’s note: The following is reprinted from the December 2015 issue of “The Box” magazine. It features former Florien resident Jessica Benevage Anderson) In the summer of 2013, Jessica Anderson was on a vacation in the Smoky Mountains and wanted to see a natural waterfall. But when her group did find one, the 1 1/3 mile hike was too much for the 365-pound Anderson to physically handle and she had to stay back.

Florien cheer performs at Citrus Bowl

Eight Florien High School varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders were chosen to perform with the All American Cheerleaders at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl On January 1. This was an amazing trip for these young ladies, who made memories that will last a lifetime.

Rigs & Racks schedules grand opening, Dec. 17

Many’s newest work-out location, Rigs & Racks, will be celebrating a grand opening Thursday, December 17 at 12:15 p.m. The new business, located at 420 Fisher Road, is owned by Anna Cate and Dustin Wright. Both are former athletes at Many High.
