Many Bass Club holds July tourney

Gary Moore redeemed himself and won the Many Bass Club’s July 2018 tournament with a five fish stringer weighing 15.10 pounds. Moore caught his fish in the Housen area of the lake using a jig and crank bait.

Jim McDonald is the second place finisher with a 5 fish stringer weighing 14.09 pounds, and George Herr is the third place champ with a five fish stringer weighing 13.64 pounds.

Gamechanger: Kenneth Harvey Story” premieres Saturday

After a long period of pro-duction, “Gamechanger: The Kenneth Harvey Story” is set for its grand premiere this on Friday, May 25 at 7 p.m. at the Many Community Center. Admission will be $7.

The story tells of a football game between the Tigers of both Logansport and Many, during which a Logansport player was paralyzed and his life, which was dedicated to Christ following the incident.

Toledo Bass Club wins Best Six Championship

ChampionshipThey did it! The Toledo Bend Bass Club brought the Best Six Championship and trophy back to the number one lake of 2018 again.

Named as the best six fishermen were Michael Woods, Neil Bridges, Lee Ballard, Tim Oxley, Wayne Moran, Kerney Briscoe, and club president Paul Hammontree,

Awesome job, guys.

Hawks alive in baseball playoffs

High School baseball season is reaching its conclusion for the year, and several local teams saw deep runs into the LHSAA playoffs, with the Zwolle Hawks looking forward to their May 9 game against Pitkin to reach the finals.

The Hawks looked masterful during their May 4 quarterfinal game against Elizabeth, with Landon Rivers shutting out the team. He went five innings allowing only three hits. He had three Ks.

Lady Rebels defeat Negreet, battle Evans

The Ebarb Lady Rebels dealt an “L” to Negreet on April 9 before fighting back valiantly against the Evans Lady Eagles several days later.

The Lady Rebels got things going in the first with Raeghan Lewing singling and scoring one run.

Lady Tigers defeat Saline, fall to Natchitoches Central

The Many High School Lady Tigers fared well against Saline on April 9, winning the game 10- 0. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t do as well two days later when they’d see defeat at the hands of Natchitoches Central.

After one run in the second inning, the ladies saw five go across the plate for runs in the third inning following a single by Shelbie Martinez and home run by Shay Drew. Martinez came up big with a home run later for four additional runs. Keely Dubois led the team going three-forthree at the plate.

Lady Rebels defeat Negreet, battle Evans

The Ebarb Lady Rebels dealt an “L” to Negreet on April 9 before fighting back valiantly against the Evans Lady Eagles several days later.

The Lady Rebels got things going in the first with Raeghan Lewing singling and scoring one run.

Negreet tied things up in the bottom of the first inning when #99 singled for an RBI.

Things really changed in the third inning, when the Lady Rebels saw Kaylyn Sepulvado scoring one run, while Lewing also singled and scored one.  An error allowed an additional player to cross the plate.

Later, in the sixth inning, the Rebels would see Autumn Wyatt, Kaylyn Sepulvado, Lewing, and Kiana Phathong get RBIs.  Kirstan Malmay had four stolen bases over the course of the game.

Ebarb was on the mound and allowed three hits and two runs over six innings with three strikeouts.

The team didn’t do as well against Evans on April 10, as they fought valiantly but were defeated 9-7.

Kaylee Hall got the win for the Lady Tigers.  She pitched four innings while allowing four hits.  Martinez came in as relief for one inning.

The Lady Tigers didn’t fare as well against the Natchitoches Central Lady Chiefs on April 11, giving up 11 runs in the loss.

Shay Drew went two-for-three batting to lead the team in hits, while Martinez pitched seven innings, allowing seven runs on five hits.

Tigers snag win over Red River

On April 10 the Many Tigers baseball team were, once again, firing on all cylinders when they garnered an impressive 19-4 win over Red River.

The Tigers got their start quickly when Peyton Fredieu doubled on a 3-2 count and scored two runs.

Nick Slaydon pitched five innings and allowed six hits and four runs while striking out nine.

Many had 13 hits on the game with Brock Booker going three-for-four to lead the team with four hits.  Also adding multiple hits to their stats were Garrett Leach and Abram Strahan.  Trey Jones stole three bases.

The next day they met Lakeview for the third time in the past few weeks and put up another impressive win 17-0.

Ebarb defeats Saline 6-2

The Ebarb Rebels put up a convincing win over Saline 6-2 at home on Monday, April 9.

Alec Remedies got things started in the first inning when one run scored on an Alec Remedies single.  The Rebels had eight hits in the game with Zach Faircloth and Hunter Barnes getting multiple hits. 

Jacob Lovelady was pitching only allowing two runs and five hits over seven innings with four Ks.
