Betty Joyce Hardy

Funeral services for Betty Joyce Hardy, 83, of Robeline, were held on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at The Life Church with Pastor Jim Manning and Rev. Jody Farrell officiating. Burial followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Betty Hardy was born on Monday, June 7, 1937 in Many. She passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvil Mitchell and Beatrice (Brumley) Mitchell.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Hardy of Robeline; daughter, Donna Stewart and husband Mark of Greenville, South Carolina; son, Russel Payne and wife Debbie of Greenville, South Carolina; brother, Donald Mitchell and wife Marion of Many; grandchildren, Ashely Hunter and husband Cory; Alex Payne and wife Emilee; Elizabeth Souter and husband Michael; Emily Harris and husband Tyler; four great grandchildren; along with a host of friends.

Benny Franklin Powell

Funeral services honoring the life of Benny Powell were held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at Old Pisgah Baptist Church in Marthaville. Interment followed the service located at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

Benny was born on April 10th, 1945 in Pleasant Hill to B.F. and Erma Powell. He entered into eternal rest on September 30th, 2020 in Pleasant Hill.

Preceding Benny in death are his parents, B.F. Powell and Erma Powell; sisters, Patricia Ann Graves; Flo Ellen Greer; son, Adam Franklin Powell.

He is survived by his sons, Zachary Powell and wife Gabrielle Powell; Patrick Jacobs and wife Belinda Jacobs; sister, Kay Hough and husband Ronald Hough; grandchildren, Sawyer Powell; Jaxton Powell; Will Jacobs; and Abby Jacobs.

Honoring Benny as pallbearers were Jack Sanders, Craig Richardson, Gary Anderson, Harold Pardee, Tommy Patrick and Ricky Dufour.

Margaret Smith, age 78, of Many went to her heavenly home suddenly on September 8, 2020. Katherine was born on October 22, 1941 in Alco, Louisiana to I.C. Knippers and Pawnee Self Knippers. Katherine was the oldest of three children.

Katherine completed her senior year of high school at Mt. Carmel High School, in Florien. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served until she received an honorary discharge after marriage.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph William “Joe Bill” McCormick; a daughter, Angela Elizabeth McCormick; and a son-in-law, Buddy Bethea; three brothers; Ben D. “Tiny Boy” West, Wayne West, Van West and his wife Yvonne; her sister, Guynell Smart; and her husband, Malcolm.

Funeral services for Luther Knippers, 88, of Many were held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Warren Cemetery.

Luther Knippers was born on Tuesday, July 12, 1932 in Many, LA. He passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 in Many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Knippers, Sr. and Leona Mitchell Knippers; first wife, Darlene Knippers; step daughter, Rhonda Rains Eason; sisters, Marie Sparks, Velma Hardy Oxley, and Georgia Lee West; and brothers, J.C. Knippers and Jimmie Knippers.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Knippers of Many; step-children, Kenneth Rains and wife Tricia of Many; Billy Rains and wife Kim of Many; Sherry Oxley and husband Tim of Many; eleven step grandchildren; nineteen step great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Martha Youngblood was born on Wednesday, April 9, 1941 in Sabinetown, Texas. She passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hamp and Hattie (Taylor) Youngblood; sisters, Betty Prince and Helen Ward; brother, Lewis Youngblood; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Donnie Walker, 73, of Coushatta, were held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Beulah Cemetery in Many with Bro. Wilton Anthony officiating and Bro. Kenneth Leach assisting.

Mr. Walker was born August 23, 1947 in Many and passed away September 13, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Walker; mother, Doris Byrd; and one brother, J.C. “Jakey” Walker, Jr.

Mr. Walker is survived by his son, Brad Walker and wife, Laura; two grandchildren, Allen and Ellie Walker; companion of 30 years, Wanda Welborn; brothers and sisters, Betty Oxley of Negreet; Bobbie Wynn and husband, W.J. of Hemphill, Texas; Benny Walker and wife, Joy of Milam, Texas; Sarah Pilcher and husband, Charles of Zwolle; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Tommy Matthews, Tom Cryer, Cade Pilcher, Jakey Oxley, Tony Walker, Jarrett Rule, and Dale Ford.

Joy Dee Ferrant

Joy Ferrant stepped to heaven’s portal on August 27, 2020, at the age of 94. Joy was ready to tell everyone she knew that the Son of God, Jesus Christ, paid the entire debt for her sin. So, when God Almighty was ready, He took her into heaven because of His Son.

Joy and her twin brother were born on July 3, 1926 in Corbin, Louisiana. She enjoyed school and earned a degree in education at Southeastern during WWII. She was introduced to Paul C. Ferrant, a Ponchatoula soldier returning from the war. He noticed her immediately because of her vibrant personality. She and Paul married in 1946 just after she finished her degree. They celebrated their seventy-fourth anniversary on June 9, 2020.
