Memorial services for Brenda Devaney were held on Saturday October, 10, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Deacon Mike Sullivan officiating.

Brenda Elaine Devaney was born on Tuesday, January 5, 1943 in Leesville. She passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Pickett and Georgia Guy Dixon; and sister, Mary Louise Weaver.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip “Dan” Devaney of Florien; son, Christopher Daniel Devaney and partner James Lyles of Shalimar, Florida; aunt, Clell Anderson of Florence, South Carolina; cousin, Virginia Ann Hopkins of Florence, South Carolina; two nephews, Robert and John Weaver of River Falls, Wisconsin; cousins, Keith Dixon of Kingwood, Texas and Katherine Kavanaugh of Benton, Louisiana.

James Hollace (Buster) Mary

Funeral services for James Mary, 71, of Pleasant Hill were held on August 24, 2020 at Old Pisgah Baptist Church in Marthaville. The services will be conducted by Bro. Rubin Weaver, Bro. Dean Johnson, and Bro. Troy Terrell. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana.

Buster was born January 16, 1949 in Pleasant Hill. He passed away on August 21, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana after an extended illness. Through the entire illness and everyday of his life he kept saying he only wanted the Lord’s name glorified.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollace and Mildred Mary; father-in-law, Floyd Terrell Jr.; sister, Cindy Britt.

Graveside services for Shirley Stringer, 88, of Many, were held on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Ft. Jesup Cemetery with Rev. Phillip North officiating.

Shirley Stringer was born on Friday, July 1, 1932 in Many. She passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Rena (Goodman) Withers; brother, Earl “Buddy” Withers; and sister, Cala Sue Withers.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Rev. James Stringer of Many; son, Greg Stringer of Many; daughter, Sherry Gibson and husband Bobby of Many; grandchildren, Dustin Stringer of Many; Melody Gibson of Mississippi; and Melissa Gibson of California; great grandchild, Aleigha Lilburn and husband Jaden of Virginia; greatgreat grandchild, Wesley Lilburn; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Percy Clio Curtis

Percy succumbed of medical complications on September 13, 2020. He was born April 14, 1941 in Many and his parents were Clio and Edna Curtis of Many. He graduated from Many High School. Percy then went to Northwestern State University and graduated with two degrees, Mathematics and Physics. Most of Percy’s adult life was spent in Minden. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Percy’s life on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1107 Broadway Street, Minden, Louisiana. The service is at 10:30 a.m., followed immediately at 11:30 a.m. with reception and visitation in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name may be made to the charity of your choice.

Percy was preceded in death by beloved wife of 53 years, Mollie Virginia Curtis; his parents; and his brother, James R Curtis of Sherman, Texas.

Nathaniel “Nathan” Lee Wilson

Funeral services for Nathaniel Wilson were held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 11806 Hwy. 118 Florien, with Reverends Dennis Bignar and John Lewing officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.

Nathan was born May 29, 2001 in Alexandria and passed away October 3, 2020 in Hornbeck at the age of 19. He was a 2020 graduate of Florien High School and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Peason. Nathan enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, mudding, riding his four-wheeler, and tinkering with old, junky trucks. He had recently completed training at Central Louisiana Technical Community College to become a structural welder.

Nathan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leon and Jean Mothershed and Evon Hext Lee; paternal grandfather, Henry Thomas Wilson Jr.; and uncle, Henry Thomas Wilson III.

Naive Michael Elhage “CJ Michaels”

Funeral services for Naive Elhage , 71, of Marthaville, were held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Old Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Johnson officiating.

Naive Michael Elhage was born on Saturday, June 11, 1949 in Fulton, New York. He passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at his residence in Marthaville.

Naive Elhage was a former member of CMA, a lifetime member of the VFW/DAV, Friend of Rebel State Historic Site and a longtime supporter of the March of Dimes. He served as a medic in the United States Navy, he served 4 years (4 tours to Vietnam) with a ranking of E5 on the USS Southerland. He received many Decorations, Medals and Badges: The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star. He served as Treasurer for the Sabine Chapter #21 Disabled American Veterans and an honorary member of the DAV Chapter 21. Naive spent time volunteering at nursing homes, local and beyond.

Jerry Bruce Malmay

Graveside services celebrating the life of Mr. Jerry Bruce Malmay were held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Francis Kamau officiating; with interment to follow. Bruce was born December 14, 1965 in Zwolle to Virginia Ann (Sepulvado) Malmay and Jerry Patrick Malmay and entered into rest on September 27, 2020 in Many at his residence.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Cleve and Theresa Sepulvado; paternal grandparents, Emmett and Mary Malmay. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Jerry and Virginia Malmay. He also leaves behind a host of friends, and other relatives.

Honoring him as pallbearers were Mark Sepulvado, Jason Rivers, Jonathan Leone, Jonathan Porter, John Snead, Mike Sepulvado, and Joseph “Shaggy” Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Sons of Confederate Veterans, Rolando Gomez, Cody Cooke, and Jackie Brock.

Funeral services for Edna Craig, 87, of Belmont, were held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Belmont Cemetery.

Edna Ozell Craig was born on Thursday, February 16, 1933 in Converse. She passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 in Riverside, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lofton Leroy Campbell and Hattie Pauline (Craig) Campbell; husband, Jimmy Lee Craig; and sister, Cleo Brandon.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizebethe Ann Rose of Riverside, California; sons, James Ray Craig of Gold Coast Yosemite, California; Michael Lee Craig of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: Randy Byrd, Mark Campbell, Calvin Dale Campbell, Doug Howard, Buddy Brandon and James Campbell.

Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Zwolle. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m. with rosary at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday October 7, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana and Friday, October 9, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. with rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Many, Louisiana.

Corine was born January 4, 1945 in Zwolle and entered into rest October 2, 2020 in Sibley, Louisiana. Corine was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Minden. A beautician for 48 years, she loved volunteering and was Volunteer of the Year twice with the LNHA. She loved working in her yard and her beautiful flower beds, traveling, watching the LSU Tigers, the New Orleans Saints and eating crawfish. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
