On May 15, 2018, a faithful servant of God, and an encourager to all, went to Heaven.
Clarence Robert “Bob” Hamilton, Jr. w as born January 4, 1935 in Lake Charles. He was born to Minnie Mae and Clarence Robert Hamilton, Sr. While at DeRidder High School he was an all-state football and track star, winning numerous medals and awards. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 spending most of his time as a Radar-man, 2nd Class Petty Officer aboard the Pacific U.S.S. Renville. In 1958, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a Billy Graham’s Crusade in Los Angeles, California.
Bob met the love of his life, Julie Ernestine “Ernie” Davis, at the First Baptist Church in DeRidder. He liked to tell the funny story that their budding romance almost ended when she said, “put out that cigar or put me out of this car.” Bob never smoked again and the rest is history.
