He was born on Wednesday, October 9, 1940 in Shreveport, and passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Dick Rivers, Jr. and Cuba Mae Procell Rivers; and brothers, Johnny, Patrick, Phillip, Lester, Benny and Richard Luke Rivers. He is survived by his wife, Sharion Rivers of Shreveport; daughters, Mary Ann Johnson of Ft.

Funeral services for Christopher Louis Nelson were held May 16, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Florien with the Reverends Ottis Branam and Wilton Anthony officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.He was born on November 16, 1940, in Clare to Christopher Adam Nelson and Willie Elma Evans Nelson, and passed away May 12, 2018 in Shreveport.Chris accepted Christ at the age of 15 and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a 1958 graduate of Pisgah High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. Chris worked many years as a truck driver until he had a stroke at age 50. He loved the woods and outdoors and enjoyed riding his four-wheeler with his lifelong friend, Jerry Byrd.

Marilyn “Pete” Goss

Funeral services for Margaret Marilyn McCormic Goss, 87, of Many were held May 16 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church with Father Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in the St. John The Baptist Catholic Cemetery. She was born Thursday, October 23, 1930 in Sabine Parish to Louis McCormic and Josephine “Jodi” DeLatin McCormic. She passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Many.Marilyn worked for many years at the drug store in Many, where she became famously known as “Pete.” She was a loving woman, and a giving farmer, hunter and fisherwoman. She and her husband Bill, raised many heads of cattle together. She was a fantastic cook and shared her gift with all her family and friends, as well as her fresh vegetables from her garden. Everyone loved her food. She loved animal and had many different pets throughout the years, including squirrels, turkeys, cows, cats and she especially loved her dogs.

Clarence “Bob” Hamilton Jr.

On May 15, 2018, a faithful servant of God, and an encourager to all, went to Heaven.

Clarence Robert “Bob” Hamilton, Jr. w as born January 4, 1935 in Lake Charles. He was born to Minnie Mae and Clarence Robert Hamilton, Sr. While at DeRidder High School he was an all-state football and track star, winning numerous medals and awards. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 spending most of his time as a Radar-man, 2nd Class Petty Officer aboard the Pacific U.S.S. Renville. In 1958, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a Billy Graham’s Crusade in Los Angeles, California.

Bob met the love of his life, Julie Ernestine “Ernie” Davis, at the First Baptist Church in DeRidder. He liked to tell the funny story that their budding romance almost ended when she said, “put out that cigar or put me out of this car.” Bob never smoked again and the rest is history.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyne Laroux and Martha Sepulvado Laroux; and his brother, Howard Laroux.

Asa Cobbs

Asa Ray Cobbs, 82 died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Sabine Medical Center in Many following a brief illness. He was born April 1, 1936 in Belmont. Asa Ray grew up in Belmont and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. He had a passion for animals, especially his little dog. He was an avid painter, canner, craftsman and gardener. He loved pretty flowers. He is the youngest son of Asa Amos “Ace” and Alda Pauline Davis Cobbs, and his preceded in death by his brother, Billy Eugene Cobbs; sisters, Mary Edith Cobbs Stewart and Delmer Cleo Cobbs Eddleman. He is survived by one brother, James Truly Cobbs; sister-in-law, Margie Helen Rains Cobbs and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Funeral service were held May 12 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many with internment following at Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Asa Ray hadn’t heard a spoken word in 82 years but last evening he heard “welcome home!”

Charles H. Lineweber, 88, of Beatrice, Nebraska passed away May 7, 2018 in Arizonia. He was born on April 2, 1930 in Beatrice. He is survived by his wife, Imojean Lineweber of Beatrice; sons, Jerry Lineweber of Beatrice, and Donald Lineweber and husband, Ernie Markowitz, of Kingman, Arizonia, and Jack Lineweber and wife, Stacy, of Beatrice; daughter, Patti Jacobson and husband, J., of Beatrice; daughter-in-law, Doreta Lineweber of Rapid City, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; Funeral services will be held May 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church in Beatrice.
