Bobbie Nell McDonald

Funeral services honoring the life of Cordelia “Bobbie Nell” McDonald were held June 10, at Mitchell Baptist Church in the Mitchell Community. The Reverends Bobby Russell, Pastor of Mitchell Baptist Church, and Waylon Gauntt officiated. Burial followed in the Cassell Cemetery in Converse. She was born June 28, 1944, in Converse to Howard Roberts and Dorothy Roberts Dykes. She passed away June 7, 2018, at her home in Converse. Bobbie Nell worked as an LPN for Dr. Donald Taylor for over 29 years in Mansfield. She was also a member of the Mitchell Baptist Church. Bobbie Nell loved being “Mimi” to Chance, her grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years John E. “Buddy” McDonald; parents, Howard Roberts and Dorothy Dykes; son, John E. McDonald, Jr.; and brother, Kenneth Roberts. She is survived by her son, R. W. and wife, Helen McDonald; grandson, Chance McDonald; sister, Betty and husband, Gene Phillips; brother, Robert L. Dykes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene Allen

Funeral services for Irene O. Allen, 85, of Many were held June 9 at Trinity Baptist Church with Bros. Truman Leach and Bro. Leon Manshack officiating. Burial followed in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery. She was born on Thursday, September 15, 1932 in Many and passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Allen; parents, C. D. Leach and Vertis Reece Leach; and sister, Lanell Sharbino.

William Combs

Funeral services celebrating the life of William David Combs were held June 8 at Toledo Bend Church of Christ in Many with the Rev. Kenny Carter officiating. Interment followed in the Toledo Bend Christian Cemetery. He was born on December 28, 1934 to Everett Combs and Ruby Nelson Combs. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2018 at the age of 83. He was one of our honored Army veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ruby Nelson Combs. He is survived by his wife, Barbara McDonald Combs of Zwolle; sons, Richard Combs of Lake Charles and Terrell Combs and wife, Brenda of Fisher; daughter Amber Combs of Zwolle; step-daughter, Traci Frasier and husband, David, of Haughton; sister, Mary Schrader of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Tom Combs and wife, Diane, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason Combs, Jennifer Johnson, Dexter Reed, Trent Reed, Stormy Wooley and Rocky Wooley; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Baylee, Peyten, Paislee, Kynlee and Layken.

Harold Knippers

Funeral services for Harold R. Knippers, 81, of Hornbeck were held June 9 at Grace Assembly in Hornbeck. Burial followed in the Knippers Hill Family Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. He was born on May 8, 1937, in Many, and passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haywood and Jennie Mitchell Knippers; brothers, Charles Knippers and Edward Dewayne Knippers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Howard Knippers of Hornbeck; daughters, Rita Hollis and husband, Larry, and Tammie Kay Knippers both of Hornbeck; brother, Bobbie Knippers of Hornbeck; sister, Margurite Ruthford of Hornbeck; grandchildren, Lindsey DesJardins and husband, Devin, Lacy Parker and husband, Kade, Noel Gregory and J.J., and Torri Hollis; great-grandchildren, Kandon, Ava, Rylan, Maci, Easton, Harper, Reid, Grace; and fur babies, Booty and BoBo.

Ronald Osborn

Ronald Osborn died on Thursday, June 7, 2018. He was born on August 24, 1942 to Larche and Lois Bamburg Osborn in Ouachita Parish. Ronnie was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and later flew helicopters in Vietnam. After the war he worked for Brown & Root as an operator. He also worked for Texaco as a pumper. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Spohrer Osborn; daughter, Angela Osborn of Many; son, Ronald James “RJ” Osborn of Mooringsport; grandchildren, Alex, Kelsey, Samuel, Zach, and Wyatt; sisters, Alice Coon, Wanda Silen, Marie Oswald, Julia Smith, and Eva Langley; brothers, Ray, Tommy, Percy, and Allen; and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Tessa Lynn Ezell were held June 3 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many6 with the Rev. Wilton Anthony officiating. She was born on August 5, 1972 to Randall Boyd Tanner and Diane Marie Burton Tanner of Baton Rouge. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2018 at the age of 45. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Earl Edward Tanner Sr. and Luvilla Efferson Tanner, and father, Randall B. Tanner. She is survived by her spouse, Mark Ezell of Many; sons Dustin and David Ezell of Many; daughters Shelby and husband, Wesley Knippers, of Florien and Haley Ezell of Lampasas, Texas; maternal grandparents John and Odette Burton of Baton Rouge; and grandchildren, Parker Barnhart, Tanner Barnhart, Katherine Rains and Noah Ezell. Burial followed in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Many. She was born on October 18, 1967 in Sabine Parish to Phillip Remedies and Leola Maxine Grantham Remedies. She entered into rest on May 24, 2018 at 50 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Phyllis. She is survived by her daughters, Amber Leigh Remedies and husband, Doug Webb, of Many and Jacie Celeste Remedies of Many; sister, Pam Sanderson and husband, David, of Many; brothers, James Remedies of Many and Rodney Remedies and wife, Ginger, of Benton; and grandchildren, Bryan Bradley Webb and Morgan LeAnn Webb of Many.

James Richard Bozeman

James Richard Bozeman, M.D., 84, of Lafayette, died peacefully at home Thursday, following his customary early morning trip to Reds, the grocery store and lunch preparation as he readied for his afternoon nap. He was born on October 17, 1933 in Huntington, Texas. He was Lafayette’s first cardiothoracic surgeon, performing the city’s first open heart surgery on Valentine’s Day in 1972 at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital. Dr. Bozeman was a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (SLI) and Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Following his internship and residency in general surgery at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, he completed a two-year fellowship in thoracic surgery at Baylor University-affiliated hospitals in Houston Texas.

Burial will follow in the Lambert Town – Shamrock Cemetery. Visitation was held June 5 at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Robeline. She was born Tuesday, February 3, 1931 in Marthaville and passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Page Quinn and Ola Waters Quinn; son, Alan B. Hennigan; brothers, P. L. Quinn and C. J. Quinn; sisters, Izora Nelson, Beulah Aiken and Nina Ramsey; father-in-law, Clyde L. Hennigan; and her mother-inlaw, Maudie Hennigan. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Hennigan of Many; sons, Rudy Hennigan and wife, Kim, of Robeline, Roger D.

Yvonne Rose Johnson

Yvonne Rose Johnson, 75, passed away on Saturday May 26, 2018 in a Longview care facility. She battled vascular dementia for eleven years. She was born on September 18, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas, but she lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She loved reading, dancing, fishing, listening to Cajun music, but most of all spending time with family. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Valerie Scalisi of Many, Mark Scalisi and Jill of Baton Rouge, and Meloney S. Mitchell and husband, Chris, of Longview, Texas; stepsons, Jerome J. Scalisi, Jr. and Nathan T. Scalisi and wife, Carolyn, of Lake Charles; step daughter, Mary Mae Seitzler and husband Danny, of Prairieville; siblings, Marie Bryson and Joseph Thibodeaux of Lake Charles and Zelma Spell of Westlake; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends who will miss her dearly. He was preceded in death by her parents, Olide and Azalie Thibodeaux; husbands, Jerome J.
