A memorial service to honor the life of Ida Elizabeth Mitchell will be held on May 18 at 3 p.m. at Gandy Baptist Church in Florien. Come wearing purple to celebrate her life with us, she was never a fan of the traditional black somber attire.

Ida passed away on Tuesday, April 16,2019 in Many at the age of 64. She was born on August 30, 1954 to Ruby Lamb and William Schultz.

Ida was a kind and living soul who put everyone before herself, she was a strong independent woman who worked her whole life. She worked at Natchitoches Times for 20 plus years, and Sabine Parish School Board for eight years. She was also a foster parent for 10 plus years. She always said that her calling was helping families and loving their children until their mother and fathers got back on track. She never judged, she always seen the good in everyone.

Ida was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert; father, William; mother, Ruby; stepfather, Robert; sisters, Cathy and Dotty; and her brother Robert.

Those left to cherish her memory included her daughter, LeeAnna Welch and husband Marty Welch of Florien; son, Leo and wife Ashley of Florien; daughter, Michigan Foy and son Brice Foy of Florien; grandchildren, Zackary Malmay, Kailee Hedges, Katherine Bennett of Florien, Tyler and Logan Mitchell of Zwolle, Leo Mitchell III and Waylon Boatman of Florien; grand-duck, Ducky; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
