Michael “Mike” Breaux

Funeral services for Michael Breaux, 64, of Florien, were held November 10 at St. John’s Cath-olic Church with Father Francis Kamau officiating. Burial fol-lowed in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.Michael Breaux was born on Sunday, September 19, 1954 in Assumption Parish, and he passed away on Tuesday, No-vember 6, 2018 at his home in Florien.He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Julia Berthelot Breaux, Sr.He is survived by his wife, Karen Breaux of Florien; chil-dren, Michael J. Breaux, Jr. and wife, Holly, Nicholas T. Breaux and wife, Tiffani, Mickey C. Breaux and wife, Magan, and Mark A. Ordoyne Breaux; grand-children, Nikko T. Breaux, Bailee C. Breaux, Jace M. Breaux and Jacob A. Breaux; brothers, Floyd A. Breaux, Jr. and wife, Gail, and Wayne J. Breaux and wife, Vick-ie; nieces, Casie Breaux and Er-ika Breaux; along with a host of family and friends.

Willadean “Aunt Dean” Mullens

Funeral services for Wil-ladean Miller Mullens, 89, of Florien, were held November 9 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Evans and the Rev. Jason Kees officiating. Buri-al followed November 10 at the Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. She was born on Saturday, February 2, 1929 in Florien, and passed away on Wednesday, No-vember 7, 2018 at her home in Florien. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Luther Mullens; sons, Michael Wayne Mullens and Kenneth Ray Mul-lens; parents, Marvin and Tres-sa Vidler Miller; siblings, Clyde Miller, Sybil Miller Crunk, Ma-rie Miller Gore and Billy Wayne Miller.She is survived by her broth-er, Theddie Miller of Florien; along with a host of nieces, neph-ews and friends. Pallbearers were Paul Swin-dle, Jr., Theddie Ray Miller Jr., Dave “Slick” Firesheets, Ryan Alford, Chris Funderburk, Roy Miller and Trent Blair.Honorary pallbearers were Alvin Guy, Reed Hall and Louis Remedies.Proverbs 31:10A worthy woman who can find?

Theda V. Mitchell

Funeral services honoring the life of Theda Mitchell, 84, were held November 7 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, with the Reverends Bruce Mitchell and Richard Hale officiating. Burial followed at Warren Cem-etery in Fisher. Theda was born December 3, 1933 in Fisher, to John and Zarah Law Hayes and entered into rest on November 3, 2018. She graduated from Universi-ty of Southwestern Louisiana and taught for 25 years for the DeSoto Parish schools. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mansfield. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grand-mother, friend, and teacher to many.Preceding Theda in death were her parents; husband, E.J. Mitch-ell; and brothers, James Hayes and Bobby Hayes. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry K. Mitchell of Grand Cane, and Elwin C.

Emmett “Butch” Manasco

Emmett Darrell Manasco, was born November 8, 1946 and passed away Friday, November 2, 2018. Funeral services were held November 6 at Alford Heights Baptist Church in Many with burial at Antioch Cemetery in Florien. He was a lifelong resident of Many where he established his livelihood as a used car salesman, and later a bail bondsman. He was elected as a Sabine Parish Police Jury Member for three terms. He was also appointed as a Sabine Parish Fire District Board Member for many years. He truly enjoyed dealing, trading, and tinkering with his cars and tractors. Butch loved his family deeply and was treasured by them in return. He beamed with pride with each mention of his children and grandchildren. His devotion toward his family was demonstrated through his diligence and provision. His insatiable wit and comedic relief will be sorely missed by his extended family and friends alike. In addition, Butch loved to fellowship with others.

Robert L. Gabriel

Robert L. Gabriel passed away November 1, 2018. He was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He loved the outdoors, fishing and working outdoors. He loved our two beloved fur babies, Shyular, Ming Su and Jade Riley. He’s leaving behind great friends at Munday Dealership and great friends at the Houston Harris County Sheriff Dept. Robert retired as a detective. He had a lot of compassion and love for this family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Philip James Gabriel and Magdalene Mary Martin Gabriel; one infant son, Jon Cory Gabriel; one brother, Philip James Gabriel Jr.; and sister Kathryn Ann Gabriel Briers. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edele Sepulvado Gabriel; son, Robert Keith Gabriel; daughter, Candace Jennea Gabriel; grandson, Colby Taylor Wollin; granddaughter, Jessica Gabrielle Stuessy; nieces and nephews from the Briers family and a host of cousins and relatives and friends from Zwolle.

Janet Eason

Janet Eason passed away in Shreveport after a sudden illness. She was born in Converse and grew up in Many. She was long time resident of Shreveport and retired from Eckerds Pharmacy. Ms. Eason was a devoted Christian who had five children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was an avid cat person who had two special cats, Max and Callie. Ms. Eason was a longlife book reader and loved her trips to the local library. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, in ink, and relished putting complicated puzzles together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Glenna Mae Eason; sister, Inez Walker; and brothers, James Eason and Wayne Eason.

Janice Ann Treese

Funeral services for Janice Ann Treese, 85, of Florien were held November 1 at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Brady Anderson and Bro. Stuart Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Prospect Cemetery in Florien. Jan was born on January 27, 1933 in New Orleans and passed away October 28, 2018, after a lengthy illness, in the hospital in Leesville. She loved the Lord and loved her church. If you ever met Jan, you loved her. She never met a stranger and loved everyone with her whole heart. She loved her family and enjoyed every minute spent with them. She loved to dance, play bingo, and run the kitchen at the VFW Hall. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, James Leggett; second husband of 26 years, Robert Treese; daughter, Pamela Douglas; father and mother, Loisel Scioneaux and Stella LeBlanc Scioneaux; and her sisters and brothers.

Mr. David Carlton Bass Sr.

Mr. David Carlton Bass Sr. of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Thursday October 25, 2018, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 19 days. He was born February 6, 1935, in Negreet to parents Dave Bass and Emma Lee Bass, and grew up in the Sabine Parish area. He and Lorena Kelly were married July 4, 1954, and moved to Hardin County, Texas, in 1956. David retired from Temple- Inland Paper Mill in Evadale, Texas, in 1997 after 39 years of experience. A longtime faithful Christian, David was ordained as a deacon at North Hardin Baptist Church and had also later served at Friendship Baptist Church as a deacon and youth director with his wife, and worked with the church’s bus ministry. In later years he has been a member of Faith Family Baptist Church. Mr. Bass enjoyed gardening but his great passionate love was his wife and family. He had really enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rose Murray Halpain

Rose Murray Halpain was born to Blanche MacFarlane Grayson and Allen Mayo Grayson on June 15, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas and went home to be with God on October 26, 2018. She devoted her life to her family and God. She was a wonderful caring wife to the love of her life, Luke Halpain, Jr., and mother to Lisa Halpain Piehler, Mark Halpain, and Stacey Halpain. She was a loving grandmother to Dennis and Michael Piehler, Nichole Halpain Johnson and Shayna Halpain, and a proud great grandmother to Zander, Stella, Emma, and Victor. Her strength, wisdom, and love will live forever in the hearts of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Billy Grayson, and her daughter, Stacey Halpain.
