Melvin “Steve” Procell

Melvin Procell, a resident of Noble, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 3, 2023, at the age of 92. Melvin was born January 5, 1931 to Jeff Procell and Josephine Paddie Procell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his Son, Newton Jeffery Procell and his siblings and spouses, Abraham “Jim” Procell, Mary Agnes Procell Wynne (Clifford), Bertie May Procell Martinez (Louis), Minnie May Procell Campbell (Doyle), Linnie Mae Procell Cooper (Roby), and Ed Ernest Procell (Verple).

Melvin grew up in Noble, Louisiana and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. His basic training was in Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was part of the Korean Conflict. On behalf of Melvin’s service to the USA, a military funeral will be conducted in his honor. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity and loving heart for everyone that surrounded him. Melvin never met a stranger and he will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Kenneth Leach officiating with Craig Jon Miller assisting. A visitation for Mrs. Dunn will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. She was born on May 23, 1962, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Robert Allen Shelton and Ruthie Ann (Holloway) Shelton Colburn and she passed away on October 4, 2023, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Shirley Faye Salter King was born on Thursday, February 20, 1936 in Natchitoches, LA. She passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents Victor N. Salter and Clarice Francis Clower Salter; husband James William King Sr. and her great granddaughter Blakely Lenae Williams-Lewandowski.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, Kitty Oglesby Murray. She peacefully went to sleep in the Lord, surrounded by family, on October 1st at University Medical Center in Lubbock TX. Born on a spring day in Colfax, Louisiana, Kitty graced this world with her gentle spirit and unwavering resolve. It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.

Kitty’s journey began in Verda, Louisiana, where she cultivated a love for learning and a thirst for knowledge. As co-valedictorian of her high school class, she embarked on a path of education, fueled by a deep desire to become a missionary nurse. Her dreams led her to work at the State Institution for the Insane in Pineville, Louisiana, and subsequently to the North Louisiana Sanitarian Nursing School in Shreveport. Her passion for caring for others remained a guiding force throughout her life.

David Seegers, 76, of Groves, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at The Medical Center of SETX in Port Arthur.

David was born in Many, Louisiana, on January 9, 1947, he was the son of Henry Owen Seegers and Rosa Belle Seegers. He was a Groves resident for over forty years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and shooting. He will be dearly missed by all and forever be in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Owen Seegers, his mother Rosa Belle Seegers, and two brothers, Jimmie Seegers and Lloyd Seegers.

Lee Raymond Isgitt was born on March 26, 1939 and passed away on September 20, 2023. He retired as a Master Trooper from the Louisiana State Police. Lee R. served the community as a law enforcement officer in various capacities for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fisher and Dovie Isgitt; sisters, Peggy Smith and Sharon (Susie) Bridges; daughter, Tanya Leone; grandson, Gabe Campbell and son-in-law, James Campbell.

Joy Ann Hyatt

Joy Hyatt was born on December 6, 1940 to Jiles and Inez West Dowden. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, Micheal Hyatt on April 1, 1961 in Prewitt’s Chapel Baptist Church. She and Micheal were married for 62 years. Joy was a homemaker who loved and cared for not only her children but her nieces, nephews and many others who wandered in and out of their home. But watch out if you stepped out of line, because if she grabbed a flyswatter, you knew you were in big trouble. She loved her children, but adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joy was an excellent cook. Her steak and gravy and banana pudding are legendary. Joy loved attending church and worshipping with her family and friends. She was passionate about playing the piano and she shared this gift by playing the piano for many years at Prewitt’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Dorothy Anderson, 80, of Florien will be held on Sunday, September 17,2023, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Florien with Bro. Wayne Chance and Bro. J.P. Handy officiating. Burial will follow in the Florien Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 5 pm until 9 pm at First Baptist Church of Florien. Dorothy was born on July 19, 1943, in the Spanish Lake Community of Natchitoches Parish to James Pleasant and Effie Mae Knippers. Her mother, one brother, and three sisters soon moved to Florien, LA, where she grew up. She attended Mt. Carmel High School and played basketball for the Mt. Carmel Lady Mustangs. She graduated high school in 1961. She passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, after battling cancer for seven months.

Victor “Paw” Johnny Cooper

Victor Cooper, age 87, a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana has passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September, 5, 2023. Vic was born on May 13, 1936 in Many, Louisiana to Amos and Nola Mae Cooper. He was the second eldest of 8 children. Vic was the kindest, strongest, most gentle, selfless, loving and genuine man who touched countless lives. He never met a stranger and would take care of anything for anyone. He was a Godly man and very strong in his faith. Vic had an unbelievable testimony that he shared with anyone, anytime he had the chance. Some of his favorite things to do were gardening, hunting, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family. Many can attest to the fact that Vic was the best human that they have ever met. Vic is loved immensely and greatly missed every single day. He is the rock of the family always and forever.
