Many Mayor Ken Freeman announced that the Town of Many’s ‘Music in Many’ program has received a generous grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council for the 2019-2020 season.

The grant is for $2,854.00 and to the Cultural District of Many.

Mary Brocato, chairperson of the Many Cultural District Advisory Committee, was excited to get the good news.

Mayor Ken Freeman signed a proclamation recently naming the week of September 17-23 as Constitution Week in Sabine Parish. The Daughters of the American Revolution spearhead the observance every year and asks local citizens to reaffirm the ideals the framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties.

Many music lovers will have the opportunity to listen to a different kind of music Saturday night, September 14, at the Many Community Center.

Music in Many is presenting ‘An Evening of Classical Music’ with the Corrales String Quartet from Northwestern State University.

“And we have even more good news. This concert is absolutely free! Thanks to a generous grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, we are able to offer this splendid evening of music without it costing the audience one cent,” said Mary Key Brocato, chairperson of the Many Cultural District Cultural Advisory Committee.

The Sabine Parish Leaders Against Litter Committee is preparing for the third annual fall, parish wide “Stash Your Trash” Bash on Saturday, September 21. Volunteers from civic and other groups such as fishing teams, hunting clubs and deer leases, churches and their Youth Groups, 4-H and other school groups along with individuals are needed to work with zone managers around the parish to pick up as much roadside litter as possible. The event will be from 8:00 a.m. until noon on the third Saturday of September.

Recently, John and Jude Jenkins (ages 6 & 4), whose parents are Hollie and Buzz Jenkins, picked up trash along Big N Road, east of Fort Jessup. They told their Dad they “wanted to be good citizens like Pop & Nanny” (Winston & Paula Hodge) who pick up trash along Highway 1215 every month. Thank you to the Hodges for being good examples for their grandchildren to follow in respecting our environment.
