This October’s election promises to be quite the ordeal, as voting for numerous local offices such as tax assessor and sheriff saw multiple locals qualifying for their respective offices.
As is tradition, the race for sheriff had multiple people qualifying for the election. Incumbent Ronny Richardson (R) will be challenged by Chris Abrahams (I), “Frankie” Howard (R), and Aaron Mitchell (R).
The other big election in the parish will be for tax assessor. Current assessor Cindy Manasco has announced her retirement, leaving the position open for a newcomer. Qualifying for the election are Ronald L. “Ronny” Bison (R), Carl Chance (D), Carroll Ellzey (D), Patrick Johnson (R), “Chris” Tidwell (R), and “Donnie” Wooley (I).
With the impending retirement of Clerk of Court Tammy Foster, two have qualified to run for the office. They include Pollie Brandon (D) and Shelly Salter (R).
