With the first day of school looming on the horizon, (Friday, Aug. 15) parents are getting their children ready for a productive year. The school supply lists are available at Walmart and already shoppers are snapping up items their kids will need—scissors, loose leaf paper, notebooks, pencils, erasers, etc.

Blaze destroys Mitchell home

The wood frame home of Brandy and Rodney Mitchell of Fisher was gutted by a blaze of unknown origin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8. The couple resided in the home of her maternal grandparents, the late and R. C. and Linda Bearden for the past 10 years. Fire stations from Central, Fisher, and Mt. Zion responded to find heavy smoke filling the sky. Florien volunteers assisted in battling the blaze

Many Police snag dealers in early morning traffic stop

Many Police K-9 Officer Kyle Cook and his drug dog, Lady, were in the right place at the right time early Wednesday, July 2.
On patrol in the streets of Many, Officer Cook stopped a vehicle on San Antonio Ave. because one of the headlights was
not functioning. The two occupants were questioned and following a search of the vehicle, two arrests were made.

Sabine women arrested in theft ring

Two Sabine Parish women, along with a Robeline man have been arrested by a joint investigation headed by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, with assistance by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office. Arrested in Sabine Parish
were the following suspects: --Buckey Adams, 46, of Robeline, charged with two counts of felony theft
