VFW donates to VA

Mr. Goins is a military veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient. They have had previous visits to the same hospital and resided at the Fisher House during their stay in the area

Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Society hosts event

The Steel Magnolia House, located in Natchitoches opened its doors for members of the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Society’s membership drive Tuesday night, Sept. 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dan and Desiree Dyess, both attorneys in Many and Natchitoches, respectively, are the new owners of the bed and breakfast and have been busy renovating the home for reservations soon

Family tradition continues

Amos Carter farmed his entire life…or at least until he was 90 years-old, when he stopped because children were afraid he 
would get hurt. He was a farmer, forester and cattleman by trade and spent untold hours providing for his families. He married Inez Addison first and had four children, Bernice, A.L., Inez and Ike. Mrs. Carter died in her 30s and Carter remarried.
With his wife, Gladys, he had a daughter, Beth Carter Boyens of Many.

Sisters usually share everything during their formative years of childhood….toys, clothes, friends and sometimes even homework!! Local sisters, Brenda Layfield Shanley of Many and her sister, Susie Layfield Jacks of across Pendleton Bridge into Texas, shared even more…cancer, to be exact.
