LSMSA students compete, place at state Beta convention

Twelve students from the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts participated in the state Beta Convention held February 7-9 at the Baton Rouge River Center and three qualified to attend the national convention to be held this summer.

Students competing included Sadie Brannan, a senior from Bossier City, Poetry Division II; Ishika Patel, a junior from Many, Math Division II; Katie McElveen, a junior from DeRidder, Language Arts Division II; Juliet Flanagan, a junior from Pearl River, Creative Writing Division II; Kiran Kaur, a junior from Lake Charles, Agriculture Division II; John Luke Heying, a sophomore from Bossier City, Math Division I; Gabrielle Blanchard, a senior from Houma, Recyclable Art; Clair Miller, a senior from Keatchie, Onsite Colored Pencil Drawing; Sarah Green, a senior from Houma, Speech Division II; Olivia Gotte, a senior from Iota, Science Division II; Emma Shupe, a senior from Baton Rouge, Spanish Division II; and Kathy Barrios, a senior from Houma, Individual Talent.
