Fort Jesup State Historic Site, declared a “National Historic Landmark” by the United States Congress due to its important role in American History, has been on “caretaker” status since 2015 and is open to the public by appointment only.
A group of concerned citizens have formed the “Friends of Fort Jesup” to help keep the site open but need your help. If you think Fort Jesup is worth saving as a historical site and community resource, please join the friends on Tuesday May 9 at Fort Jesup State Historic Site at 5:30 p.m. for the monthly meeting.
They will be planning the upcoming “Fort Fest” celebration on Saturday June 3 honoring the 195th Anniversary of the founding of Fort Jesup, discussing future plans for site, and future events.
