Roger Patrick

Roger Lynn Patrick was born in Many to Elouise Babin and Homer Franklin on November 27, 1949 and entered into rest on February 15, 2019.

He was a member of Noble Baptist Church. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1970 to 1976. After serving in the Army, he began a lifelong career in the timber industry. He became a hardworking and well-respected hauling contractor. Roger was known to many as “Roger Dodger” and enjoyed communicating daily with his fellow co-workers. He definitely loved hunting and fishing, but above all his love for his family was even greater.

He was preceded in death by parents; grandmother, Lillie Brook; and uncle, Sidney Campbell.

Tommy Ezell

Memorial services for Tommy Joe Ezell, 90, will be held at 1 p.m. March 2 at Rose-Neath Many Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until service time at the chapel. A private burial will be held at the NW LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville.

Tommy was born February 21, 1929 in Shreveport and went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2019. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He taught air conditioning at vocational school in Sabine Parish. He was a member of the Little Flock Masonic Lodge in Negreet.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin K. and Alice E. Ezell and his brother, Kenneth R. Ezell.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Ruth H. Ezell; son, Mark T. Ezell; daughter, Kari L. Rivers and husband, Barry; grandchildren, Haley Ezell, Dustin Ezell, David Ezell, Shelby Knippers, Morgan D. Rivers, and McKenzie L. Rivers; and great-grandchildren, Noah J. Ezell, Katherine J. Rains, and Madeline G. Bell.

Bonnie Bray

Bonnie Bray, 71, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born in Many where she grew up on her family’s scenic cattle ranch. She was an alumnus of LSU.

Bonnie was the owner of Bray Media, LLC and highly respected by her clients and the business community. She was a member and Past President of SMEI, as well as Past SMEI Marketer of the Year. She was a member of the Advertising Club of Baton Rouge.

Bonnie enjoyed reading, journaling, and music, but her passion was traveling and camping. She was a loving and devoted partner, sister, colleague, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David M. Bray, Jr. and Melba Bray.

She is survived by her partner, Penny George; brother, Dr. David M. Bray, III and wife, Susan; and nieces and nephews, Courtney Bray and Ryan Bray, Andrea Centofanti and husband, Jason, and Elizabeth Landry and husband, Ricky.

Betty Ebarb

Funeral services for Betty Jo Davis Ebarb, 84, of Stonewall will be held on February 21 at 2 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Zwolle with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will begin on February 21 at 10:30 a.m.

Betty was born on Tuesday, July 24, 1934 in Sabine Parish, and passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport.

Betty attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stonewall. She was a long-time employee at Piggy Wiggly in Shreveport. She was also a private sitter for elderly for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Vernon “Bill” Ebarb; parents, Willis and Arlene Davis; and son, Randall “Randy” Ebarb.

Jackie Monroe Hardy Jackie born

Jackie Hardy was born on Thursday, July 23, 1970 in Leesville, and passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Many.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerri Devon Oliver Hardy.

He is survived by his parents, A. G. and Linda Hardy of Many; daughter, Ashlee Lewing of Many; son, Justin Hardy of Hot Springs, Arkansas; stepsons, Matt Clark of Texas and Clay Clark of Colorado; sister, Barbie Hardy of DeRidder; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Viola Hillman

Funeral services for Viola Mitchell Hillman were held on February 8 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Mora. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.

Mrs. Hillman was born on February 25, 1943, and passed away on February 5, 2019, at the age of 75. She lived in Vernon Parish all of her life and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Hillman was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed drinking coffee and watching T.V. Her family jokingly referred to her as “Mean Old Maw-Maw.” Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delton Hillman Sr.; mother, Leola Mitchell; brothers, Robert Mitchell and Jack Mitchell; and sisters, Melba Bowers, Linda Mitchell, and Jackie McInnis.

Huey “Bob” Rushing

A funeral service celebrating the life of Huey Robert Rushing, 80, was February 3 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Many with Mister Kerry Henry of Carthage Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed with a private service at the Rushing Family Cemetery.

Bob was born on March 25, 1938 in Coffee County, Alabama to Thomas McDavid Rushing and Lacey Lee Black Rushing. He passed away January 30, 2019 at his home.

He served in the military for 22 years and served in Greenland, France, Germany, as well as numerous posts in the United States. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded two bronze stars. He retired in 1976 and moved his family to the Toledo Bend area in Louisiana to enjoy his joy of bass fishing and country life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Louise Wismer Rushing; sisters, Mildred, Ruby, Nillie, and Orene; and brothers, Glady, Leonard, and Burl.

Joy Lee Rowe Rains of Robeline was born on May 17, 1951, in Nacogdoches, Texas to Bob and Faye Rowe. She passed away January 30, 2019 in Shreveport. She was married to Steve Douglas Rains and was a registered nurse at Sabine Medical Center.

Left to cherish Joy’s memory are her husband, Steve Rains; daughter, Karen Dowden and husband, Allen, of Minden; sister, Cynthia Ballew and husband, Bob, of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister-in-law, Polly Windham of Natchitoches; granddaughter, Courtney Lafitte of Minden; great-granddaughter Halley Hightower of Minden; several nieces and nephews; and a host of beloved friends.

Oren “Skip” Martin, Jr.

Oren Ellzey “Skip” Martin, Jr. was born October 21,1946 in Natchitoches to Oren and Gretchen Martin, Sr. and entered into rest on January 23, 2019. Funeral services were held January 26 at Beulah Baptist Church Many. Officiating was the Rev. Kenneth Leach.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gretchen Martin; grandson, Alex Post; and great grandson, Brooks Post.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Rogers Martin, of Many; daughters, Natalie Martin and Renee Martin both of Shreveport and, Bree Pilkington, and husband, Steven, of Many; and left behind to love and miss their Pops are his grandchildren, Michael Coile, Eric Post, Tanner Wilson, Rylie Martin, Kaiya Causey, and Logan Pilkington; along with Brooklynn Hill his only great grandchild.

Lucille “Lucy” Terrell

Lucille S. Terrell was born March 20, 1944 in Converse to Edward and Myrtle Everitt Simpson and entered into rest on January 30, 2019. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Wayne Terrell; sisters, Pat Simpson, and Myrtle Faye Simpson; brothers, Bobby Simpson, and Buddy Simpson; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; and grandson, Trent Mann.
