Edith Salter

Funeral services for Edith Mae Salter, 68, of Silsbee, Texas, were held March 11 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

She was born on Monday, April 3, 1950 in Pineville, and passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Galveston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmit Oliver Hardy and Mildred Mae Scott Hardy; and brothers, Emmit Ray Hardy and Carl Leland Hardy.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Salter of Silsbee, Texas; daughters, Ashley Salter and husband Terry from League City, Texas and Alisha Miller and husband Kevin of Goshen, Indiana; brothers, Ruel Hardy and wife Pat of Buena Vista, Virginia and Justin Hardy and wife Angelique of West Monroe; grandchildren, Ethan Miller of Goshen, Indiana, Kaylee Miller of Goshen, Indiana and Gillian Alsdorf of League City, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Billy Ray Stevens, 69, of Many were held March 9 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Trinity Cemetery.

He was born on Monday, April 18, 1949 in Hamburg, New Jersey, and passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Abe Stevens and Mable Fletcher Stevens and nephew, Billy Womack.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Stringer Stevens of Many; daughters, Connie Vanzant of Many and Tammy Self of Many; sisters, Betty Womack of Milam, Texas and Shirley Meshell and husband Johnny Meshell of Fisher; grandson, William Vanzant; nephews, James Womack, Dean Meshell, Don Meshell, Kevin Meshell and Dave Meshell; niece, Cindy Meshell; along with a host of friends.

William Whittington

William Ronald Whittington was born in Florien on December 19, 1938. He passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019 at the NWLA Veterans Home in Bossier City at 80 years of age. He was a former resident of Houston, Texas. His parents were Gordon Elwyn and Marie Hardin Whittington of Florien.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his twin brother, George Donald Whittington, June 19, 2018.

Ronald went to Elementary school in Florien. He was a graduate of South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas and a graduate of Lamar Tech University in Beaumont, Texas. He earned his BBA degree in Accounting in 1971 from Lamar State College of Technology, and was employed at Halliburton in Houston, Texas for many years.

Wallace Eason

Funeral services for Wallace Eugene Eason, 83, of Many, were held March 12 at The Life Church with Pastor Jim Manning and Bro. Tommy Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery.

He was born on Friday, October 4, 1935 in Vernon Parish, and passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his home in Many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Katie Davis Eason; sisters, Katie Mae Crunk and Hazel Gentry; and grandson, Wesley Pinter.

Wallace Eason was a quiet and gentleman, full of love for his family. He was happiest when outdoors and loved to fish. Among the things he did in his lifetime were being meat market manager at Curtis’s Supermarket, later named Big Star, along with serving our nation for eight years in the National Guard. Wallace was a family man who left his wife, children, and grandchildren with many wonderful memories.

Funeral services for Donna Gail Buster were held March 5 at New Creation Ministry in Zwolle, and were officiated by the Rev. Mark Rivers. Interment followed at the Zwolle City Cemetery in Zwolle.

Donna was born June 7, 1964 in Zwolle to James Joseph Procell and Mary Maurice Lopez. She passed away on February 28, 2019 in Shreveport. Donna was a life-long resident of Sabine Parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clayton Procell, Ronnie Procell, Rodney Procell and sister, Joanne Ezernack.

Donna is survived by her sons, Joe Wade Procell and special friend, Kassie, of Noble, Kirk Buster and wife, Chelsea, of Zwolle, and Nick Buster and wife, Melissa, of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; sister, Lois Weddel of Jefferson, Texas; brother, Robert Procell of Yuma, Arizona her blessed grandchildren, Jayla Procell, Mikayla Buster, Kolt Buster, Kage Buster, Brantley Buster; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Funeral services honoring the life of Sallie Craig Santos, 68, were held on March 1 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with the Rev. Jimmy Price officiating. Burial followed at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Noble.

Sallie was born September 4, 1950 in Coushatta to Christopher “Sam” and Susan Giddings Craig and entered into rest on February 25, 2019 in Shreveport. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Curtis Ray Craig, Gerald Craig, and Reginald Craig; and nephew, Kurt Craig.

Funeral services for Larry Warren Seals, 74 years old, of Zwolle were held on February 22 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Many with the Rev. Jerry Penfield officiating. Burial followed in the Zwolle City Cemetery.

He was born on May 25, 1944 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and passed away on February 17, 2019 at his residence in Zwolle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse W. and Ilene G. Seals; brother, Ronald E. Seals; brotherin-law, Pat Ebarb Sr.; and nephew, Mark A. Ebarb.

Larry is survived by his sister, Linda Seals Ebarb of Zwolle; nephew, Pat Ebarb II and wife, Wendy, of Zwolle; nieces, Tina Ebarb of Tyler, Texas, and Heather Sepulvado and husband, Jeff, of Zwolle; and great nephews and nieces, Matthew Ebarb, Elyssa Luna and husband, Michael, Jessica Aguilera and husband, Daniel, Devin Cutty, Joshua Kennedy and wife, Paige, and Kayla Sepulvado; and great-great niece and nephew, Dalis Luna and Leon Kennedy.

Frank Wyatt

God saw that I was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around me and whispered, “Come home with me.” So grieve a while if you must, then be comforted by trust.

Buddy was born August 22, 1934 in Marthaville and passed away on February 15, 2019 in Shreveport at the age of 84. He was raised in the Old Pisgah community and graduated from Belmont High School. He lived in Shreveport, LA for 20 years before settling on Wyatt Road in the Old Pisgah community in 1975.

Buddy will always be remembered as either the “Frito Man” or the unofficial Mayor of Old Pisgah. He was an active member of Old Pisgah Baptist Church and was known for his kind and friendly nature. A true Southern gentleman, a great father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he never met a stranger.

Glenda Zick

Glenda West Tackett Zick, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was led home by her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2019, at her home in Many. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family after a long, determined battle with terminal illness.

Glenda was born on March 7, 1947, in Monahans, Texas, to Nathan Ostel West and Lelie Corine Masters West. After losing her parents at a young age, Glenda and her sister, Barbara, moved to Many, where they were adopted by cousins, Dr. L.O. and Janie Tackett. She spent the remainder of her childhood in Many, and graduated from Many High School in 1965. While completing her B.S. in Dietetics & Institutional Management from Northwestern State University, she was actively involved in Delta Zeta sorority. After completing her degree, however, she decided her true calling was education; she returned to receive a teaching certification in elementary education.
