Verna Leone

Funeral services for Verna Leone, 95, of Zwolle, were held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Francis Kamau and Father John Paul Crispin officiating. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Verna was a lifelong resident of Zwolle and passed away March 3, 2020 at Garden Park Nursing home in Shreveport. She was born February 23, 1925. Verna was one of fourteen children born to Sevado and Frances Leone. She was a life time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Zwolle. She was last employed at Garan Sewing Factory in Many.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Sevado and Frances Leone; sisters, Wanda Leone and Clara Sepulvado; brothers, Herman, Frank, J. W., Bill, John, Clyde and Oliver Leone.

Funeral services for Rebecca Stephenson, 77, of Many, were held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Zwolle with Rev. Jerry Penfield, Rev. Marty Williams and Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Aimwell Cemetery.

Rebecca Ann Stephenson was born on Sunday, September 20, 1942. She passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Vernon Stephenson; parents, Risdon and Elsa Wood; son, Christopher Stephenson; her daughter, Wendy Stephenson.

She is survived by her grandson, Michael Stephenson of Natchitoches; granddaughter, Stormie Derr of Interlachen, Florida; great granddaughter, Kira Derr of Interlachen, Florida; brothers, Risdon Wood of Brevard, North Carolina and William Wood of Monroe; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Hubert Eugene “Gene” Johnson

Hubert Eugene “Gene” Johnson

Hubert was born November 24,1932 in Amarillo, Texas to Hubert Henry Johnson and Dollie Lee Cameron Johnson and entered into rest on February 29, 2020. He served honorably in the United States Army.

Funeral service were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Many with Brother Jimmie Glover officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery in Noble.

Mr. Johnson served several years as a police officer and then went on to work proudly as a school janitor. He was loved by many and loved all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all of his family.

Preceding Gene in death were his parents, daughters, Rose Seals, Georgia Brown, and Shirley Ketchum; son, Ervin Campbell; son-in-law, Al Pickard; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Campbell.

JoNell Lum Campbell

Funeral services honoring the life of JoNell Lum Campbell, 75, were held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with Rev. Simmons, Rev. Wead, and Bro. McManus officiating. Burial followed at Union Springs Cemetery in Converse.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Converse to Willard A. Lum and Syble Booker Lum Smith. She passed away at Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport with family by her side. JoNell was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Noble for 56 years.

She was a graduate of Converse High School and resided in Union Springs Community in Converse. She was an owner of Toledo Bend Realty and K.L. Campbell Enterprises. God gave her a special musical talent that she loved to use for the glory of God. She served as pianist at Noble United Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed time spent with her family during the holidays and other family gatherings, especially with grandchildren.

C.B. Leatherwood, Jr.

Funeral services honoring the life of C.B. Leatherwood, Jr. were held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church in Converse. Officiating the service was Bro. William Hassan and Rev. Lee McClintock. Interment followed at Sardis Cemetery.

C.B. was born on March 10, 1940 in Converse to C.B. and Sylvia Leatherwood. He entered into rest on March 1, 2020 in Converse.

C.B. was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and tending to his livestock. He loved to cook and feed people. He wasn’t satisfied until all were stuffed full. C.B. loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. Many are known as “A man of few words”- C.B. was known as “A man of MANY words”. He never met a stranger and was always quick to share a story with anyone he encountered. His family, especially his grandchildren, was the pride of his life. His happiest times were when the kids were with their “Pop.”

Sean Michael McManus

Sean was born November 2, 1973 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Michael and Debbie McManus and entered into rest on March 2, 2020 in Zwolle. He served in the United States Army.

Preceding Sean in death were his parents, Michael Clyde Mc-Manus and Debbie Jean McManus. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Monica McManus of Zwolle; sons, Kyle, Kaleb, and Kaden McManus of Zwolle; daughter, Kara McManus of Baxter Springs, Kansas; sisters, Shelly Campbell & husband, Gary of Lansing Kansas, Shannon McManus of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and 5 grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and numerous friends.

Memorial service for Sean were held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at New Freedom Fellowship Church at 660 Highway 1215, Many.

Funeral services for Dan Haigh, 68, of Many were held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial followed in Fort Jesup Cemetery.

Dan was born on Tuesday, November 8, 1951 in Vancouver, Washington to Blaine Haigh and Juanetta Speer. He grew up roaming the woods of Oregon, until moving to Killeen, Texas and graduated high school.

Shortly after high school, Dan enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country working as an aircraft and engine mechanic in Fort Wainwright, AK. He was honorably discharged in January 1978, and moved to Many to be near his mother and step-father, who was stationed at Fort Polk.

Jerry Ray Singletary

Jerry Ray Singletary was born on Friday, September 15, 1944. He passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at L. S. U. Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Singletary and Sybil (Futch) Singletary and his brother, Guy Wayne Singletary.

He is survived by his sons: Wesley Singletary and wife Cassi of Many, LA, Bradley Campbell and wife Netisha of Belmont, LA, Jerry Campbell of Belmont, LA, Kerry Singletary and wife DeWanna of Many, LA and Jason Singletary and wife LaWanna of Marthaville, LA; his daughter, Misty Horn; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, LA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Children Hospital.

John Earl Martin

John Earl Martin

John Earl Martin was born on December 30, 1939, to Robert L. and Beulah Martin. He grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana and graduated from Natchitoches High School and Northwestern State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He worked in various fields, including serving as Chief Civil Deputy for Natchitoches Parish. He began his own real estate appraisal business from which he retired. John was an active member of Westside Baptist Church.

After a lengthy illness, he passed away surrounded by family at Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 10, 2020.
