Alton Lewing

Graveside services for Alton Lewing, 71, of Florien were held on February, 4, 2020 at Pine Knott Cemetery with Rev. Joe Hendrickson officiating.

Alton Lewing was born March 9, 1948 to Curtis and Marie Clark Lewing. He graduated from Florien High School in 1966. He married the love of his life Maribeth Adams Lewing on March 22, 1969 and they started their life journey together.

He worked numerous jobs before getting into the Poultry Business, a profession that became his passion. He loved raising chickens and cattle and working in the hayfields. He had a work ethic that few could keep up with.

His second joy in life was his great niece and nephew, Mattie and Alton Adams. He spent many hours riding them on the tractor while he fed cows.

Alton is survived by a sister, Evelyn Adams and husband Wayne; Jim Lewing and wife Marilyn, a very special brother Dean Lewing and wife Donna; Clarence Lewing and wife Jeanette, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services for Zack Brumley, Jr., 82, of Many, were held on February 1, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Spears and Rev. Bryan Adamson officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.

Zack Brumley, Jr. was born on Friday, August 13, 1937 in Many. He passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at his residence in Many. He was preceded in death by his father, Zack Wilson Brumley, Sr.; mother, Tessie Margaret Counts Brumley; and sister, Sharlet Layrain Alford.

Robert H. Meadows was born on Saturday, April 12, 1941 in Goldonna, Louisiana. He passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at his residence in Many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyce (Jack) Meadows and Cleo Elkins Meadows; and his brothers, Ollie Meadows and Earl Meadows.

Roy Bush Bridges

Mr. Roy Bush Bridges, 73, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Funeral services were held on January 28, 2020, in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Ron Brown, of Natchitoches, assisted by Kevin Whitfield, of Virginia and Bro. Joe Waggoner, of Mansfield. Entombment followed at the Beulah Cemetery, in Marthaville.

Roy Bush was a native of Pleasant Hill and a resident of Shreveport and Marthaville. He was member of Woodridge Baptist Church. A graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and Southeastern Louisiana University prepared him for his careers in banking (15 years) and nursing home operations (18 years). He served in the National Guard and on the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Board.

Funeral services for Raymond Welch, 79, of Pleasant Hill were held on January 25, 2020 at Blue Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Glynn Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery.

Raymond Welch was born on Friday, September 27, 1940 in Leesville. He passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Goldie Welch; sister, Avis Welch; brothers, Linell Welch and Johnnie Welch; grandchildren, Chasity Welch and River Pritchard; and son-in-law, Garland Powell. Raymond loved his family and farming also playing guitar and making music with his father, brothers and uncles.

Walter Ralph Barnes

Walter was born December 25, 1947 in Pleasant Hill to Walter Prescott Barnes and Joyce (Woods) Barnes and entered into rest December 28, 2019 in Pleasant Hill.

A memorial service honoring his life was held on January 1, 2020 at Wallace Baptist Church in Pelican. His service were officiated by Brother Jeff Jinks.

Preceding Walter in death were his parents; wife, Kathy Barnes; brother, Wayne Barnes; and two sons, Terrel Barnes and Jerald “BB” Barnes. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Anthony Barnes of Picayune, Mississippi and Austin Ladner and wife, Holly of Pleasant Hill; daughters, Angela Lee and husband, Danny of Carriere, Mississippi and Vickie McKie of Natchitoches; sister, Debbie Smith of Pleasant Hill; brother, Kenneth Barnes and wife, Glenda of Picayune, Mississippi. In addition, he leaves behind the loves of his life, his 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Teresa was born August 23,1960 in Franklin, Germany to Una Mae (Powell) Nash and William Charles Nash and entered into rest on January 7, 2020 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Services for Mrs. Wingate were held on January 11, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Many Chapel with Brother Randy Parker officiating.

Preceding Teresa in death were her parents, Germany to Una Mae (Powell) Nash and William Charles Nash and her brother, David Nash. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Franklin Wingate of Many; son, David Boyd and Meschell of Many; daughters, Brandy Wingate of Many, Carrie “Bambie” Adams and husband, Riley, Jr. of Altha, Florida, Karen Sue Powell of Zwolle, and Angel McGrew of Baytown, Texas; sister, Cheryl Lewing and husband, Todd of Zwolle; brother, Josh Nash and wife, Velma of Croby, Texas. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Marilyn Margaret Osborn was born on Saturday, November 27, 1948 in Shreveport. She passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Berchmans Spohrer and Peggy Marilyn (Ponselle) Spohrer; and husband Ronald “Ronnie” Osborn.
