Charles Alanceson Raines (1928-2014), writer, scholar, educator, and Southern gentleman, died on Feb. 4, 2014,
at his home in upstate New York. Mr. Raines was a graduate of Centenary College and Tulane University. He taught
English at Centenary and at the City College of New York on Staten Island. In addition to his wife, Kathleen Ordway-Raines, he is survived by his one son, Dr. Robert Charles Bozeman Raines, and wife, Kathleen McCutcheon Raines, of Bluemont, Va.; four grandsons, Dallas Alanceson, Devon Mc- Cutcheon, Max Devereaux and Charles Bozeman, and two
brothers, Harold Raines of Marshall, Texas, and Quinton Raines of New York City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Dudley Raines and Hoyt E. Raines.
