Converse – Funeral services honoring the life of David Martin were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield. Interment followed at Converse Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. David was born on January 20, 1960 to his parents, Horace Martin and Rose Hampton Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents. David is survived by two daughters, Katherine Martin and significant other, Joshua Cruz and Haley Breanne Francis; one aunt, Gracie L Hampton; numerous extended family members, great friends and acquaintances. Graveside services for Sammie Sandel Morales, 82, of Florien, will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 beginning at 4 p.m. at Prospect Cemetery in Florien, with the Rev. Wayne Chance officiating. Sammie Sandel Morales was born on Friday, Oct. 9, 1931 in Sandel, LA. She passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Addison Sandel; her sister, Mary E. Anderson and her son, Richard Morales. She is survived by her three children, Carlos F. Morales of Many; Becky Morales Lafitte and husband, W.E. Lafitte, III of Many and George D. Morales of Fort Myers, FL; three sisters, Katherine Self of Natchitoches; Dr. Addison Sandel of Natchitoches, and Jessie V. Kathy Marie (Nolan) Richard

Private funeral services were held for Kathy Marie Richard, 58, who passed away April 7, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Survivors include husband, Thomas Richard, of Many; her children, Olivia Richard Tatum (Jerry) and Jason Richard (Kristy), both of Many; her mother, Dorothy Staples Nolan of Lafayette; four sisters, Debra Nolan of Lafayette, Janet Richard of St. Martinville, Cindy Ferrell of Katy, Texas and Betty Maupin of Many; two brothers, Ted and Tim Nolan of Lafayette; and three grandchildren, Kelsey, Nathan and Caitlin Richard. She was preceded in death by her father, James Burgess Nolan; her son, Johnathan Richard and brother-in-law, Andrew Richard. A native of Monroe and one-time resident of Lafayette, Kathy resided in Many for the past 31 years. Along with her husband, she was co-owner of Roll On Intercom Rentals. In her free time she enjoyed gardening.

Norma J. Rachal

Norma J. Rachal, 79, of Vidor went peacefully while at home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Norma was born on November 1, 1934 in Trinity, Texas. She was the first daughter of five children of the late Helen Beatrice Bacon and Herbert Thea Gilbert. A native of Trinity, Texas, she had lived in Vidor for 57 years and was a homemaker. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation began at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Herbert Gilbert, Jr., and granddaughter Amy Diane Williamson. Norma is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Joseph Herman Rachal, daughter, Regana Williamsonand  husband, Clyde, all of Vidor, brothers, Chester Arnold Gilbert and wife, Marilyn of Cypress, Texas, and Russell Gilbert

Lexington Rivers breathed a sigh of relief when Lindsey Ezernack said, “YES!” Ezernack and Rivers will make it official on
Friday, April 11, during a private ceremony. Ezernack, a graduate of Ayers College with a pharmacy tech degree, is the daughter of Ronald Ray “Bo” and Lisa Armstrong Ezernack.
