Ernestine Hamilton

On Sunday Jan. 12, 2015, late in the day a faithful servant of God, loving wife and mother and gentle soul went to Heaven. Julie Ernestine Davis Hamilton was born Jan. 23, 1932 in Mt. Carmel of Sabine Parish. She counts as her genealogical heritage a long line of pioneers and patriots who served this country from Christopher Garlington V, who served in the American Revolution to brothers who served in World War II. She was born to Julie Catherine Byrd and John Franklin Davis. Julie was a native born Louisianan and John was born in Mississippi. Hamilton’s mother died at her birth, so she was reared by her maternal grandmother, Martha Hardin Byrd in Mt. Carmel. Her father, who lived close, walked down every evening to spend time with her. She accepted Christ at an early age at a small country church, Oak Grove Baptist, which was close enough to walk to. Christ was a part of her entire life. She attended Mt.

Funeral Services for Stephen Dannis Rogers, 21, of Many, were held on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Negreet High School with the Reverends Buddy Freeman and Kenneth Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Beulah Cemetery. Rogers was born on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1993 in DeRidder. He passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 in Many. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Glenn E. Adams and Dannie H. Funeral services for Peggy Joyce Ebert were held Dec. 27 at Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with the Rev. Dean Hillman officiating. Interment was in Bay Springs Cemetery in Chopin. Ms. Ebert, 60, of Zwolle  passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She was born on a cold November day on the ninth of 1954 to her parents,  George Ebert and Eva Ebert. She loved and was full of life. She loved all sorts of animals, but tigers where her favorite. She never met a stranger, and always made people feel comfortable around her. She taught her children to always be polite and treat others with respect, to use the words like “Yes Sir” and “Ma’am,” and never be rude to anyone. She could fish all day long and catch them all day long. Bass fishing was her favorite. When she put her mind do doing something, like dancing, playing pool, cards, or darts, you had better bring your game, because she was hard to beat.

Funeral Services for Audrey Merle Torres, 93, of Zwolle, were held on Dec.28, at First Baptist Church of Zwolle with the Rev. Jerry Penfield officiating. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Zwolle. Audrey Merle Torres was born on Wednesday, June 22, 1921 in Florien. She passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25,2014 at Willis Knighton Northin Shreveport. She was preceded in deathby her parents, Garland and Bessie Keadle Evans; husband,Ernest R. Torres; son, Ernest DeWayne Torres; grandson,Kenny Joe Torres and threebrothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughters, FayeTorres and Jackie Rivers of Zwolle and Janet Sepulvado of Noble; sons, Kenneth Torres and wife, Noel, of Zwolle and Harold Dew andwife, Sherry, of Ft. Jesup; sister,Irene Armstrong of Fullerton, Calif.; special companion, Spanky; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
