Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation began on February 29 at Antioch Baptist Church. Tony “Burk” Garland Funderburk was born on Wednesday, May 4, 1960 in Many.

Melvin Glen Jordan

Melvin Glen Jordan, 56, of Woodville, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at his residence. Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 23 until the time of service at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville. Burial followed in Shady Grove Cemetery near Woodville. Officiating was  Pastor Hazel Rumby. Melvin was born April 12, 1959, to Melvin and Gladys Ray Jordan in Urania. He was a former resident of Many and had lived in Woodville for the past two years.

Patsy Lee Cate

On Sunday, February 21, 2016, Patsy Lee Cate went home to be with the Lord. A celebration of her life was held on February 26 at Word of Truth Family Church with the Rev. Chaz Coleman officiating. Visitation was held on Thursday, February 25. Interment followed at Beulah Baptist Church under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home. Survivors include her sons Gordon Parler and wife, Tonya, and Erik Cate and wife, Jessica, and her daughter Tammy Parler Roberts; 11 grandchildren, Donavon, Daniel, David, Emilee, Jade, Shae’, Trinitie, Cheyenne, Chloie, Austin, and Nicholas; great-grandchild, Al’Leeana; two brothers, George and Gino, two sisters, Carmen and Sharmen; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, extended family and loved ones.

Suzanne S. Jones

Funeral services for Suzanne S. Jones, 89, of Marthaville were held on Thursday, February 25 at  2 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Benjie Colvin officiating. Burial followed in the Marthaville Cemetery. Suzanne died on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Grace Home in Shreveport, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Rockford, Illinios, she graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston and the Julliard School of Music in New York City. She married Guy Jones of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and lived for many years in Riverside, Connecticut. She spent 10 years as the head of the Cuisinart test kitchen and editor of The Pleasures of Cooking Magazine. She worked with numerous chefs and taught seminars on cooking nationwide. She was a member of the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) and the Authors Guild. She and her husband both “retired” and moved to Florida, first to Ft. Lauderdale and then to John Knox Village in Pompano Beach.

Carolyn Sue Tolar Ashley

Ms. Carolyn Sue Tolar Ashley, 73, passed away at her home in Converse on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Funeral services were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home - Mansfield Chapel on Saturday, February 20 at 2 p.m. Visitation was from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, February 19. Interment followed at the Converse Cemetery. Carolyn was born in Lufkin, Texas, on August 2, 1942. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband, Ronald Earl Ashley; her mother, Opal Lamar Payne; and father, James Elder Tolar; sons, James Lamar Ashley and Stephen Mitchell Ashley. Carolyn is survived by one son, Norman Gene “Bubba” Ashley and Vassana of Converse; one daughter, Melinda Sue Ashley Austin and Eric Heard of Converse. She has four grandchildren; Christopher and Cody Austin of Converse and Elizabeth and Jack Ashley of League City, Texas.

Danny Foreman

William Danny Foreman, 57, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 13, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in West Point, Mississippi to William and Oma Foreman. He served and retired from the United States Air Force. Danny loved spending time working with his hands, whether on the computer or on a car, it didn’t matter. He spent his time serving all those around him. He was always willing to help a person in need. Danny was extremely proud of his six children, Tamera and her husband, Scott Westhoff, Mandy Foreman, William and his wife, Laura Foreman, Kimberly Foreman, Christopher and his wife, Melissa Foreman and Samantha and her husband, Matthew Cook and his 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Jerrie Foreman; sisters, Brenda Foreman, Linda Callahan and Lorean Flippen; brothers, Luther “Red” Foreman and Authur “Buddy” Foreman and an aunt Lottie as well as his many loving nieces, nephews and other friends.

Patsy Peterson Hubley

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Patsy Peterson Hubley on February 6 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many with the Rev. Dan O’Connor officiating. Interment followed in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Patsy Peterson Hubley, 85, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, in her residence with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Elvin and Gladys Cook Peterson; daughter, Jacqueline Ann Hubley Blanda; grandsons, Joseph Blanda and Brett McKenzie and brothers, Halvor Peterson and Lambert Peterson. Patsy was a graduate of Many High School, and attended Business College, which led to her 40-year career as a supervisor auditor for the United States Department of Agriculture. Although she had a career, she was a dedicated wife and mother, who never missed a school function or family activity. Patsy was always conscientious in her work.
