Marla Blackmon

Funeral services for Marla Lynn Dixon Blackmon, of Anacoco were held February 25 at the Anacoco First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Cryer Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Marla, the daughter of Cullen and JoAnn Strickland Dixon, was born on May 20, 1968, in Many. She passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in Shreveport. Marla was a loving and faithful wife, mother and Nonny. Her passion in life was to support her husband in the ministry as a Pastor’s wife and to love on her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend time playing with her grandchildren. She was always willing to help anyone in need without even being asked.

Marilyn Meshell

Funeral services for Marilyn Ruth Meshell of Noble were held February 17 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in the Ebarb Community. Father Richard Norsworthy and Father Jean Bosco Uwamungu officiated. Interment followed in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery. Marilyn was born on September 7, 1949 in Many. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2017 while in crucial care in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Williams and Sylvia Procell of Ebarb; sister, Loretta Ebarb; brother, Harold Procell Sr.; granddaughter, Alyvia Collins; and father-in-law, Walter Meshell Sr., all of Ebarb.

Gerald Arthur “Buddy” Beasley

Funeral arrangements for Gerald Beasley, 85, were held February 21 at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Reverends Matthew Beasley and Mike Henderson officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation began February 20, at 5 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many.

He was the oldest child of Gerald B. and Claude Armour Beasley, born May 26, 1931. He passed away February 18, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Lou Beasley Peace; brother, Kenneth Zane Beasley; wife, Lanell Carter Beasley; son, Richard Alan Beasley and daughter, Kimberly Lanell Beasley Bedrich.

Ronnie Jordan

Ronnie G. Jordan, 65, of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania passed away at his home on February 15, 2017 at 5:30 a.m. A viewing service will be held at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, on February 22 at 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Burial will follow at the Rocky Mount Cemetery on February 23 at 10 a.m.

Ronnie was born on March 21, 1951 in Robeline to O.K. Jordan and Eva Car-roll Jordan. He graduated from Robeline High School in 1969 and attended Northwestern College in Natchitoches. He worked for McBurney Corporation out of Norcross, Georgia as a project manager until his early retirement in 2010 when he was first diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Faye Jordan.

Harold Dyess

Funeral services honoring the life of Harold Franklin Dyess, 71, were held February 20 at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill with the Reverends A.F. Ott, Jr. and Hoy Leach officiating. Burial followed at Spring Ridge Cemetery.

Harold was born on July 21, 1945 in Belmont to Virgil and Jeraldine Dyess and entered into rest on February 17, 2017 at his residence in Pleasant Hill.

Preceding Harold in death were his parents, Virgil and Jeraldine Dyess; sister, Barbara Ramirez; brother, Prentiss D. Dyess; and sister-in-law, Roma Gwen Dyess.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his brothers, James A. Dyess and friend, Nora, of Boyce, and Gerald W. Dyess and wife, Sherry, of Stonewall; sister, Carolyn Ott and husband, A.F., of Deridder; brother-in-law, Adam Ramirez of Angleton, Texas; sister-in-law, Martha A. Dyess of Many; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Those honoring the life of Harold as pallbearers were his nephews.

Gilbert Brian

Funeral services for Gilbert Brian, 70, of Belmont, were held February 17 at Old Pisgah Baptist Church in Belmont with the Rev. Dean Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Belmont Cemetery.

Gilbert Brian was born on Thursday, August 8, 1946 in Pleasant Hill. He passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his residence in Belmont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Conly Brian and Cora Elizabeth Dyes Brian; and brother, Phil-lip Brian.

He is survived by his daughter, Traci Billiot and husband, Phil, of Robeline; son, Nicholus Brian of Belmont; brother, Olin Dean Dyes and wife, Marceil, of Belmont; grandchildren, Ethan Brian, Jordan Brian, and Emma Brian all of Pleasant Hill; grand-dog, Shackle Pin; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Steve Campbell, James Bullard, Johnson Dillard, Merle Phillips, Butch Rains, Trey Rains, Mark Austin II, Tommy Cobbs.

Honorary Pallbearer was Mark Austin.

Bertha Remedies

Funeral Services for Bertha Marie “ReRe” Remedies, 92, of Noble, were held February 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Bertha Marie “ReRe” Remedies was born on Sunday, August 24, 1924 in Zwolle. She passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Pauline Meshell Remedies; son, Norman L. Remedies; brothers, Walter Earl Remedies and Claude Ray Remedies; and sisters, Juanita Ezernack and Theresa Jacks. She is survived by her sons, Joseph P. Remedies and wife, Sandy, of Zwolle, and Thomas M. Remedies and wife, Brenda, of Noble; sisters, Sally Joyce of Bloomington, California, Patsy Miller of Blanchard, Elizabeth Bennett of Shreveport, Stella Lively of Shreveport and Carolyn Quint of Irving, Texas; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Alice Rush

Mrs. Alice Gentry Rush, 81, of Winnfield passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Born Saturday, August 3, 1935 in Many, she was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Betty Carroll Gentry; husband, Bertis Rush; and siblings, Jack Gentry, Hazel Peveto and Jimmy Dan Gentry. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Susan Woods, Bobby Joe Rush and wife, Barbara, Bertis Rush and wife, Sharon, Connie Reed, Betsy Andrus and husband, Charles, Johnny Rush and wife, Angie and Keith Rush and wife, Angela; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and brothers, Dub Gentry and Bob Gentry. Funeral services were held February 11 at Southern Funeral Home with the Reverends Wallace Ingles and Onie Hay officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories in Winnfield. Serving the family as pallbearers were Daniel Berry, Macy Compton, Matthew Walker, Josh Chellette, Gary Wayne Sepulvado and Cole McCartney.

Roselyn Culbertson was born on Thursday, March 23, 1950 in Bogalusa. She passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at her home in Many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Exie Arrington Hopkins; wife, Pearl Buras Hopkins; sisters, Annie Mae Corley, Ava Del Knippers, Willie Horn and Myrtle Moore; and brothers, Teddy Hopkins and Hardy Hopkins.
