Dorothy Ann Grove

Graveside services for Dorothy Ann Grove, 79, of Shreveport were held June 24 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Spencer Lovitt officiating. She was born on Saturday, February 4, 1939 in Many, and passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Life Care Hospital in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Grove; parents, Rufus and Effie Brumley Savell; sisters, Margie Brown and Carolyn Barnhill; and brother, Charles Savell. She is survived by her son, Bruce Grove and wife, Tracy, of Greenwood; brothers, James L. Savell and wife, Linda, of Mineloa, Texas and Barry Savell and wife, Millie, of Natchitoches; grandchildren, Paige Tynes and husband, Jason, of Gloster, Alanna Boyd and husband, Wayne, of Stonewall and Brandon Grove of Greenwood; great grandchildren, Kenzie, Mac, Gracie, Payton, Annaleigh, Blakely, Skyler and Cooper Joe; along with a host of family and friends.

Sarah Lou Bright Maines

A remembrance and celebration service for Sarah Lou Bright Maines, 64 of Gladewater, Texas were held July 9 at White Oak Community Church located in White Oak, Texas. On June 29, 2018, we lost a loving wife and mother, faithful sister, caring friend, and devoted teacher. Sarah is survived by her two children, Matt Maines and wife, Shelli, of White Oak, Texas and Melissa Maines of Kilgore, Texas; grandchildren, Miller and Lawsyn Maines of White Oak, Texas; mother, Pearl Ethelene Bright of Natchitoches; sisters Beth Windham of Natchitoches and Rhonda Kuhlmann and husband Lee of Slidell. Sarah’s life was full of love and guided by the principles of teaching, service to others, and finding the good in all things. Sarah touched the lives of not only her family, but all those she impacted as a teacher, principal, and counselor at Overton, White Oak and Gladewater school districts throughout her 26 years in education.

William “Tommy” Maines

A remembrance and celebration service William Thomas “Tommy” Maines, 66, of Gladewater, Texas was held July 9 at White Oak Community Church in White Oak, Texas. On June 29, 2018, we lost a loving husband, devoted father, caring brother, and thoughtful friend. Tommy is survived by his children, Matt Maines and wife, Shelli, of White Oak, Texas and Melissa Maines of Kilgore; grandchildren, Miller and Lawsyn Maines of White Oak, Texas; and sister, Rachael Gardiner of Natchitoches. Tommy was an avid hunter and fisherman who took joy in the simple things in life. He could normally be found in a pair of camouflage overalls talking up a storm with family and friends or outside training his hunting dog. Tommy spent over 40 years in the food distribution industry and worked for Brookshire’s, Sysco, Fresh Country, and B.B. Taylor.

Lynnquithis January

Funeral services for Lynnquithis Lee January were held June 30 at the Florien High School auditorium with the Rev. Bruce E. Garner Sr. officiating. Internment followed in Pilgrim Star Cemetery in Florien. He was born April 12, 1995 to Sophia Collier and Lynn Donald January Jr. in Natchitoches, and was the oldest of six children. He passed away June 18, 2018. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brittany Carter-January; sons, Za’Lynn Brignac and Kingsley January; daughter, McKinlee January; parents, Sophia Collier and Lynn January Jr. and step-mother, Likuan; maternal grandparents, Shirley Collier and Robert Collier Sr., and step-grandmother, Lana; paternal grandparents, Louvenia Johnson and husband, Harmie; brothers, Jalynn January, Toni January, and Lynn D. January III; sister, Angel Collier and Anaysia January; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. The family of our beloved Lynnquinthis sincerely appreciate everyone that thought of us on this difficult day.

Jimmy Henry, Sr.

Funeral services for Jimmy Darnell Henry, Sr., 74, of Many were held June 28 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Marthaville Cemetery. Bro. Tony Moran officiated. Jimmy was born on October 30, 1943. He graduated from Many High with the class of 1961. After graduation, Jimmy joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on September 23, 1968. He retired from the oil field after 40 plus years of employment, most of those years were overseas. He passed away on June 25, 2018 at his home in Many. He was preceded in death by his son, Shane Lee Henry and mother, Margie Henry. He is survived by son, Jim Henry, Jr.

Joseph Longoria

A funeral mass was conducted honoring the life of Mr. Joseph Ray Longoria on June 21 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Zwolle with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. He was born on October 9, 1952 to James Willis Longoria and Dorothy Lee Jordan Longoria and passed on June 12, 2018 in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Longoria, and brother, Ricky Longoria. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Jake Leone, of Zwolle; sons, William Ray Longoria of Zwolle and Tommy Longoria and wife, Jessica, of Shreveport; sister, Judy Garcia and husband, Stan, of Zwolle; brothers Louis Longoria and wife, Patty, of Mansfield, Lester Longoria and wife, Renee, of Zwolle, Bill Longoria and wife, Carolyn, of Bunkie and James Gil-crease and wife, Marie, of Bossier City; and grandchildren, Sarah Longoria of Castor

She was born Friday, July 29, 1927 in Sabine Parish, and passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Many Health Care North in Many. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. P. Rains; parents, Lonzo Morris and Ethel Asby Morris; grandson, Kenneth Dale Small; sister, Willie Ethel Morris Boydstun; and brother, James Pershing Morris. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Beth Hines and husband, Bob, of Many; son, Dennis Rains and wife, Patricia, of Many; grandchildren, Rodney Small of Many, Monica McDonald and husband, Roy, of Pitkin, James Small and wife, Stephanie, of Conroe, Texas, Roxanne Rains of Natchitoches, Jacqualyn Fitch of Many and Jaime Harris and husband, Trey, of Magnolia, Texas; 11 great grand-children; two great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Lucille Barksdale

Lucille Barksdale, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away on June 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 16, 1934, to Blanchard Rachal and Laura LaCaze in Many. She was preceded in death by husband of 58 years, R.A. Barksdale; son, John, and daughter, Teresa. She is survived by brothers, Herman Rachal and Preston Rachal; children, Patricia and husband, Billy, Richard and wife, Gennie, Mary and husband, Robert and Laura; 12 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Lucille’s final mass was held at St. James Catholic Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas on June 22. Funeral services were held at Blue-bonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Interment followed at The Memorial Park.

With great sadness we announce the death of our loving daughter, sister, and devoted mother of three children. Memorial services for April Marie Marroquin Pad-die, 39, of Many will be held on Thursday, June 28 at 4 p.m. at Friendship Church of the Nazarene, 88 Friendship Road in Robeline. She was born on Friday, April 20, 1979 in Orleans Parish, and passed away on Mon-day, June 18, 2018 in Many. She was a graduate of North-western State University and taught at Zwolle Elementary School. April was an active member of the Friendship Nazarene Church. She is survived by her beloved children, Hunter Paddie, Summer Paddie and Raven Paddie all of Many; mother, Cheryl Karczewski of Florien; father, Miguel Marroquin and wife, Julissa, of Harvey; sister, Lisa Marroquin of Florien; step-sister, Michelle Marroquin of Harvey; niece, Isabella Marroquin of Florien; along with a host of family and friends.
