Buford Cole

Funeral services honoring the life of Buford Ricks Cole, 90, were held November 20 at Toledo Bend Church of Christ with the Rev. James Tidwell and John Spencer officiating. Burial followed at Many Cemetery.

He was born September 26, 1928 in Middle Creek, to Sam and Vivian Cole and entered into rest on November 16, 2018 at his residence in Many.

He graduated from Louisiana State University and worked for Boise Cascade and A. J. Hodges Company as chief forester for many years. He later in life bought and operated his own sawmill until his retirement. Upon retirement he and his wife, Ruth, moved to Huntsville, Texas. There they were active members of their church and spent most of their time buying and selling antique furniture and jewelry. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

Preceding Buford in death were his parents and his wife, Ruth Tidwell Cole.

Norma Whitmer

Norma Jean Whitmer, age 80, of Many, passed away November 13, 2018, at Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Many. She was born February 20, 1938, in Marshall, Missouri, the daughter of Frances Johnson and Raymond Scott.

She attended grade school in Marshall and received her GED later in life. In March 1957, she was united in marriage to Gale Eugene Whitmer and to this union six children were born. She was employed by Lee’s Motel in Carrollton Missouri; Banner Biscuit Company in Carrollton; and the Sabine River Authority in Many which she retired from in 1996.

Norma’s hobbies included fishing, writing, watching nature, especially hummingbirds, squirrels, and sharing her faith. She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith and attended the Kingdom Hall’s in Many and Carrollton.

Ruth Veuleman

Ruth Gandy Coburn House Veuleman, 91, of Many died November 20, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Funeral services were held November 24 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many with the Rev. Dean Crittenden officiating. Interment followed at Florien Cemetery.

She was survived by her son, Gary W. Coburn and wife ,Linda; brother, David Max Gandy and wife, Doris; grandchildren, Lindy Neal and Richard Coburn; beloved great grandson, Micah Coburn; step-children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.E. “Ted” Coburn; parents, Ed and Lula Gandy; brothers, Milton Gandy and Oscar Gandy; sister, Jewel Cavanaugh; second husband, Jack House; and third husband, Doc Veuleman.

He was born Wednesday, December 28, 1966 in Shreveport, and passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kirk Martell Vines.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Vines of Many; sons, Jefferson Vines of Many and Joseph Vines of Many; daughter, Joely Vines of Many; mother, Delores Vines of Many; brothers, Brad Vines and wife, Kathy, of Nashville, Arkansas and Ryan Vines and wife, Melissa, of Many; nephew, Jeremiah Vines of Many; nieces, Hanna Savell and husband, Blake, of Many and McKayla Vines of Nashville, Arkansas; along with a host of friends.

Vonda Renee Rogers Miller

Funeral services honoring the life of Vonda Miller, 63, were held on November 16 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield with the Rev. Jimmy Price officiating. Burial followed at Converse Cemetery in Converse.

Vonda was born December 8, 1954 in Converse to Buster and LaNell Anderson Rogers and entered into rest on November 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father.

Those left behind to cherish her memory is her mother, LaNell Rogers of Converse; daughter, Erin Miller and fiancé Marty Sepulvado of Shreveport; sister, Susie Rogers and Jerry Williams of Converse; brother, Marty Rogers of Converse; grandson, Cayden Miller Fletcher; niece, Shannon Cox and husband, Nicholas; nephew, Scotty Williams and wife, Cheyenne; and great niece and nephews, Andrew Cox, Alex Cox, Christopher Williams, and Chesleigh Williams.

Buri-al followed November 10 at the Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. She was born on Saturday, February 2, 1929 in Florien, and passed away on Wednesday, No-vember 7, 2018 at her home in Florien. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Luther Mullens; sons, Michael Wayne Mullens and Kenneth Ray Mul-lens; parents, Marvin and Tres-sa Vidler Miller; siblings, Clyde Miller, Sybil Miller Crunk, Ma-rie Miller Gore and Billy Wayne Miller.She is survived by her broth-er, Theddie Miller of Florien; along with a host of nieces, neph-ews and friends. Theda V. Mitchell

Funeral services honoring the life of Theda Mitchell, 84, were held November 7 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, with the Reverends Bruce Mitchell and Richard Hale officiating. Burial followed at Warren Cem-etery in Fisher. Theda was born December 3, 1933 in Fisher, to John and Zarah Law Hayes and entered into rest on November 3, 2018. She graduated from Universi-ty of Southwestern Louisiana and taught for 25 years for the DeSoto Parish schools. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mansfield. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grand-mother, friend, and teacher to many.Preceding Theda in death were her parents; husband, E.J. Mitch-ell; and brothers, James Hayes and Bobby Hayes. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry K. Mitchell of Grand Cane, and Elwin C.
