“The Notebook” to be presented

Movies in Many begins its April schedule on April 11 and April 18 with movies sure to please all mem-bers of the family.Two more Harry Potter movies will be airing at the Saturday after-noon 2 p.m. matinees. “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” will show on April 11. “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” will be the April 18 movie.

NSU to offer OSHAsafety courses

Northwestern State Univer-sity’s Officof Electronic and Continuing Education will offera set of OSHA Safety Training Courses in April. The classes will be held on South Hall on NSU’s Natchitoches campus.A 10-hour course for those in the construction industry will be on April 6 – 7 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. A 10-hour class for those in general industry will be on April 8 – 9.

Fields sworn into National Guard

PV1 Shunterika Fields of Pleasant Hill was sworn into the Army National Guard on March 9 and will serve a term of six years as a transporta-tion specialist. She is the daughter of Amanda Fields of Florien and a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School.

Henderson installed as NSU president

Dr. James B. Henderson and his family, along with the community, participated in a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Friday morning. From left are daughter Reagan, Dr. Henderson and his wife Tonia and sons Nicholas and Alexander.

Dr. James Braswell Hender-son was installed to the officof the President of Northwestern State University of Louisiana Friday during a day of ceremony, nostalgia and celebration.   Hen-derson, his wife Tonia and their children were honored through-out the day by dignitaries, aca-demic officialspolitical fgures, prominent clergy, friends and representatives from other insti-tutions as students, faculty, uni-versity staffand the community gathered for the formal ceremo-ny, the frst Northwestern State has hosted in 18 years.

The Easter Bunny and the Town of Many have some big plans for Sabine Parish chil-dren on Saturday, April 4.Children and their fami-lies will meet the Easter bunny at the Many Community Cen-ter at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4.  They’ll also watch an Easter movie  “Hop” at the theater.

Yoga classes bring fitness,well being to Sabine

What is yoga? At the most basic of levels, it is an ancient form of exercise that is defined as a way of combining personal freedom, health, long life, and heightened self-awareness.The entire system is built around three main structures: exercise, breathing, and medita-tion.

Battle of Pleasant Hill marks 151st anniversary

The 151st Anniversary of the Battle of Pleasant Hill will be remembered this year with re-enactments held April 10-12 on the actual battle field located three miles north of the Village of Pleasant Hill on Highway 175.
