Sepulvado running for Dist. 7 Police Jury

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the voters of District 7 for allowing me to serve as your police juror for the past four years. It has been a valuable and rewarding experience. Peason horses face extermination if Army has way

A herd of around 450 wild horses that have lived free in central Louisiana are literally running for their lives. They are in danger of losing both their home where their herds have lived for 75 years and their very existence.

Amber Alert: York sought in missing six-year-old

The Louisiana State Police has issued a Level II Endangered/ Missing Child Media Advisory on behalf of the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office for a six-year-old child taken by Harvey Eugene York, Jr., of Zwolle, Louisiana. The child, Alexis “Lexi” Johnson, is a six-year-old white female with brown hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 3’7” tall and weighs 63 pounds.

Barthelemy trial begins; family seeks justice

The trial of Robert Barthelemy, a former Natchitoches Police Department officer accused of killing Tony Procell, a fellow Louisiana National Guardsman, began on October 9 with opening statements. The jury was chosen in weeks previous in St. Landry Parish, due to the general public of Sabine Parish having been exposed to details and publicity regarding case.

Balcony Grill to be first featured in new program

The Balcony Grill is the first business in the Cultural District of Many to receive a creative decal for their window that tells folks they can “Find many treasures” inside. Gregg Eason, the owner of the popular restaurant on San Antonio Avenue, displays a collection of fine art from area artists that is for sale. The art can be viewed in both the front and rear dining rooms. Eason was pleased to be selected to display the decal.

Tamale Fiesta is this weekend

Viva Tamale. The Zwolle Tamale Fiesta is heating things up in Louisiana. The town of Zwolle will host its 40th annual Tamale Fiesta on October 8-10 at the Festival Grounds located at 1100 S Main Street in Zwolle. There will be lots of music, fun and flavor along with lots of tamales for sale. The Kick-Off Supper will start the festivities Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m. with dinner and entertainment.

Local author Susan Sands honored at book-signing

The parking lot of Noel’s Used Books on the Texas Hwy. was full of vehicles Saturday morning, Sept. 12, as area readers flocked to the store to meet Susan Noel Sands and purchased an autographed copy of her debut novel, “Again, Alabama.”

‘Tis the Season in Sabineland will be this year’s theme for the annual Many Christmas Parade and the other festivities, according to Gay Corley, chairwoman. Besides a massive parade, the committee will also be sponsoring a variety of fun activities with the family in mind.
