Dardenne celebrates Tourism Week

The observance of National Tourism Week was monumental in Sabine Parish, as ribbons were cut for both the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail and the Toledo Bend Forest Scenic By-Way.

Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne celebrated National Tourism Week with a whirlwind tour of the state and stopped by Sabine Parish on May 6 to share the importance of the tourism industry to Louisiana and cut ribbons on signage for both the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Trail and Toledo Bend Forest Scenic By-Way.

Maydaze Car show this weekend

A number of classic and muscle cars will be showcased this weekend at the first Annual Maydaze car show, which is being held at the Many train depot.

The first annual Maydaze Car Show will be held this weekend on May 17 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Many train depot. “This event is a long time coming,” said Don Case, vice president of the Toledo Cruisers car club. It was a labor of love for him and a number of others who share a mutual passion for classic vehicles. He explains that several enthusiasts were getting together and the idea of a club just kind of came together.

Agent Nan Arthur of the Sabine Parish 4-H reminds all of important dates as follows: May 9th—Logger’s Festival (Emails about this event will come from Mrs. Polly Brandon) May 12th—Sabine Junior Leaders planning to attend the Desoto Parish Crawfish Boil will need to let Mr. Chris or Mrs. Nan know by 4:30pm, so that we can make plans with Desoto Parish
for crawfish amount and how much money it will cost per student
