Many Book Club hears historical review

Five members of the Many Book Club met at the Sabine Par-ish Library Tuesday night, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. Attending were Lois Barnhill, Shirley Lee, Donna Smith Ammons, Lucille DeWitt and hostess, Patsy Knippers.Following the recitation of the Club Collect and the calling of the roll, the members settled back with a cup of coffee and listened as Lu-cille DeWitt reviewed Ken Follett’s century trilogy, which include the books, Fall of Giants, Winter of the World and Edge of Eternity.

Sabine’s 4-H selects focus for 2015-16

The Sabine Parish 4-H Coun-cil Advisory recently met and se-lected the focus for the upcoming 2015-16 year, according to Nan Arthur, 4-H agent.School-wide focus will be “Healthy Living”, which will be worked on during all of the 4-H Club meetings.

Big cat tracks found in Zwolle

Cougars go by many names: mountain lions, pumas, catamounts, even the Florida panthers are considered cougars. This big cat once roamed most of North America but due to bounties being placed on the animal for the protection of livestock cougars have slowly died out.

Toledo Center celebrates Mardi Gras

Decorations, food and music were representative of the Mardi Gras celebration at the Toledo Center, Sabine Council on Aging last month. There was plenty of music, good food and frivolity, as members and guests celebrated the famous Louisiana holiday.

Woodsmen help with medical expenses

Fay McDonald, Modern Woodsmen of America representative, presented Sherman “Trey” Page III of Converse a check for $5,000. A matching funds barbecue lunch was held on Feb. 1 to assist Page with medical expenses incurred from an automo-bile accident.

Old time revival to be held in Marthaville

Evangelist Craig James will be the preacher when Crossroads Baptist Church in Marthaville has its old time revival and preaching on March 15-18.Services will be at 7 p.m. nightly Sunday through Wednes-day. There will be a special music and testimony time at each service.

Fort Jesup CAR attends state conference

Members of the Fort Jesup Society of the National Society of the Children of the Ameri-can Revolution attended the 64th Annual State Conference of the Louisiana Society in Baton Rouge on Feb. 21.    The members attended the business session of the confer-ence at the Capitol Park Wel-come Center.  Following the business session, the group took a tour of the Capital Park State Museum where they toured the Revolution exhibit and then took part in a scavenger hunt around the museum discover-ing many interesting facts about Louisiana.
