BOM assists in getting new school books Bank of

Bank of Montgomery is partnering with Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and Kappa Alpha fraternity to purchase new books for the Marthaville Elementary/Middle School. The book drive raised between the three groups raised $1,000. In the picture from left are Kristene Cruse, Madison Milligan (Tri Sigma and student teacher at Marthaville Elementary), Kyler Burns, Luke Lucky, Kirk Leone, and Brian Ohnoutka.

City Bank helps upcoming car show

Toledo Cruisers Car Club announces the 5th Annual MayDaze Car Show will be happening May 19 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Sabine Parish Fairgrounds in Many. There’s a $20 entry fee, door prizes, goodie bags and lots of food and fun. City Bank donated cups as part of the goodies for the entrants. Tanya Peterson presents the cups to Becky Case of the TCCC. Many Lodge presents Honesty, Integrity Awards

On April 3, Many Masonic Lodge 411 presented the 2018 Honesty and Integrity award to two worthy recipients during their annual Honesty and Integrity Award Night. The two recipients this year were Andrew Jenkins and Amanda Simmons. These two students were nominated by the Many High School staff and selected by the Many Lodge 411 members. They were presented certificates by the Lodge for outstanding achievement and character.

Negreet High represented well at northwest literary rally

Negreet High School won “Sweepstakes” in Division V at the northwest literary rally. Seventeen of the students qualified to participate at the Louisiana State Literary Rally in Baton Rouge. Four students were medal winners, which is the top score in the event.

Students from NHS who placed in the top five were:

Agriculture I – Ben Ozsoy* (3rd);

Agriculture II – Alan Beasley* (3rd); Yancy Vallery (5th);

4-H’ers compete in commodity ambassador contests

Nicholas LeBlanc, a Vermilion Parish 4-H member and veteran competitor at the 4-H Commodity Ambassador Program contest, said he enjoys sharing information about the importance of safely preparing foods like seafood and poultry.

“The contest has helped me become a better public speaker, build confidence and learn a lot about food safety that I wouldn’t otherwise know,” LeBlanc said.

Psi Chapter awards Girl Scout patches

Psi Chapter presented DKG/ Girl Scout Patches and the Psi Chapter/Girl Scout Patches to several young ladies from Girl Scout Troop #540 (Zwolle) at the Chapter’s March 13 meeting. These patches require the accomplishment of pre-determined activities which focus on developing leadership skills while exploring various careers, developing an awareness of community and government, and investigating the history of both The Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Girl Scouts.

Nineteen Girl Scouts from Troop #540 met the requirements for this patch and they were honored in a small ceremony.

Girl Scout Troop 540 gives gift of cookies

March was National Reading Month so the girls collected books throughout the month & delivered to Sabine Parish Many Library Branch along with some cookies. They wish to thank the parish for supporting the Troop during cookie season. The girls that participated in the event were Alaina Stewart, Anamiya Ramirez, Mya Ferguson, Layla Carnline, Landry Remedies, Shyla Bridges, Mollie Sepulvado, AnnaBella Ramirez, Naveah Jackson, and Matea Whittington. The troop leader is Lindsey Carnline.

Easter bunny welcomes children to movi

The Easter Bunny made an early appearance at the Many Community Center to welcome children to the special Easter party and movie.

He assured the kids that he would be visiting them again on Easter Sunday morning. But in the meantime he left candy and Easter favors as gifts to those children attending.
