Sabine Master Gardeners welcome Pratt

Members of the Sabine Master Gardeners got a first-hand view of bees from beekeeper Jim Pratt, who resides north of Con-verse at their regular meeting on Wednesday, June 20.

Master gardeners and guests gathered at the CDC Building in Many for Pratt’s presentation. The former Director of the Sabine River Authority is an ex-pert on the subject of bees.

Ray Williams and the Sons of Allen celebrate Juneteenth

Ray Williams and the Sons of Allen will be in concert at the sfield fifth annual Juneteenth Celebration on Sunday, June 24 at 4 p.m. in downtown Mansfield.

Other artists of the Ark-La-Tex area that will be performing are Daughters of Jerusalem of Many, Saxophonist Stanley Blackshire, Theo Chatman, Royal Family, Morning Star Choir, Gethseman Choir, Greater Starlites, and Chariots of Fire. Special guests will be national recording artist Marva McKinley from the Mississippi Mass Choir, and Sunday’s Best Season 7 winner, Jay Williamson. Hosting will be Pastor Donzell Hughes.

OCC plans underway

Pastor and Mrs. Dick Enterkin of Union Springs Baptist Church of Converse are pictured alongside Operation Christmas Child Project Leader for USBC Pat Johnson and OCC Area Coordinator for West Central Louisiana Beth Martin as they discuss plans for packing shoeboxes. Martin shared her experience of distributing the shoeboxes in Rwanda during May, 2017. The national collection week for shoeboxes is November 12-19 with the local drop-off location being Calvary Baptist Church in Many.
