Patchwork

I have been a procrastinator from the word “Go”. I love taking pictures and with a digital camera, I have become the world’s worst about getting my photos printed. (Unlike my friend Carolyn “Precious” Gandy!! I file the pictures from my card onto my computer, but then I keep the camera card, so I can easily take it to Walgreen’s to get prints. Several months ago, I patiently sat on the stool and cropped, lightened and printed about 300 pictures. And then with the pressing of a wrong button, I deleted them all. I was devastated…..and I felt so stupid.

Speaking Out for Louisiana Citizens

We tend to forget that however ingenuous we get with our charity hospital system, we must have the federal government
Centers of Medicare and Medicaid services o.k.

Patchwork

I was saved by a big, fat yellow cat last week. And he forever has a place in my heart even though he runs when I show up at Mom’s. Orangejello, so named by my brother because he is orange, actually rules the house on the Natchitoches Highway. He was once attacked by some sort of animal and had to go to the vet for shots, antibiotics, etc. He was torn up…but survived.

Patchwork

by donna smith ammons.

I was up and slipping the brisket in the over at 5 a.m. Easter morning. That in itself, isn’t something I normally do. Usually I cook it several hours the day prior and then just finish up Sunday morning while I am in Sunday School and church. That didn’t happen this year because our two grandchildren arrived just in time for supper on Thursday night. Needless to say, I was busy the rest of the weekend.

CONTEMPT CITATIONS

Former IRS Chief Lois Lerner, who headed an IRS division that reviews tax-exemptions applications has twice invoked her
Fifth Amendment Right when asked to testify about the agency’s targeting of certain nonprofit advocacy groups. Many
of our politicians start making bold melodramatic denunciations about how terrible this is and what they will do to them.
We’ve heard this many times before

Patchwork

A Leesville lady literally gave me the shirt off her back…delivered it to the INDEX…and I took it!!! One Saturday night in recent weeks, hubby-dear and I took Mom and Unkie to Nicky’s for her birthday dinner. The electricity was still out on Cobb Drive, so we decided a treat was in order for the Birthday Girl!

CHANGE OF AMERICA

Why is American politics so dysfunctional? One could say they are so self-serving. Others will say the leaders have tunnel
vision and do not deal with the whole problem. When you turn on the news you hear the left talking about the right and the
right talking about the left. On the other hand, here is what you might say is the “real world” and what it looks like could happen

Patchwork

“I drove the lawn mower,” I said, describing how I helped pick up limbs and debris following the storm of March 28. It reminded me of the “I carried a watermelon!” line out of the movie, Dirty Dancing. Just plain stupid!! Our nearly four acres on Cobb Drive survived the storm, but had hundreds of small branches and limbs all over. Hubby-dear had intended to plant some fruit trees, but every time he dug a hole, it filled up with water

Patchwork

Thank you to the mysterious person who sent flowers on Paul’s wedding day!!! I felt so special!!!! Saturday morning, March 22 dawned bright and early on Cobb Drive when a sleeping Grammie was awakened by a little boy voice saying, “Hi Grammie. It’s me!” I cracked my eye and there stood by sweet little grandson, Braeden, who had been carried to bed from the car late the night before.

Remembering When. . .

By Lola Russell.

Last Sunday, a lady mentioned that she had some questions about angels, and while I could not answer all her questions, I know what I believe. And if anyone is in doubt, all they have to do is look up the word in concordance of their Bible and it will enlighten them. As for me, I became a believer when I was only five. I have told it before, how my sisters and I used to have playmates next door, named Pearl and Ruby. We practically lived at each other’s houses.
