( Newsworthy Articles and My Opinion) CASE LOADS?

The subcommittee of the legislative created task force settled this week on a proposed method to study the case loads of Louisiana’s district and appellate courts. The entire Judicial Structure Task Force will meet again on Thursday to vote on the recommendation of the subcommittee which favors a model developed by the National Center for State Courts. Not everyone seems eager to dive into the process. First Circuit Judge Guy Holdridge said that any in-depth review of the courts could turn into a “burden” for the judges.

A LITTLE HISTORY

U. S. Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, along with colleagues from other Southern states, passed a resolution designating August as National Catfish Month. We are all reminded of former Alexandria Mayor John K. “Tilly” Synder, who, when he was elected mayor, filled the local swimming pool with catfish.

Notes from an Old Bible

What is a parable? It’s a true- life story used to illustrate or illuminate a truth. It must be based on a real- life situation that the hearers are familiar with. Jesus used parables that were commonplace to daily life, and His hearers needed no explanation as to what the stories were about because they involved common everyday things they could relate to.

“I feel guilty for putting them away.”

MY ABUSIVE PARTNER IS IN JAIL, SO WHY DO I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIM? I have been asked this question a few times. I came across a letter from a victim/survivor and I feel lots of partners fell the same way.

Q; My boyfriend was put in jail because he missed his court date regarding criminal charges he was facing for domestic violence. My family thinks this is a win for me because he has caused me such grief and heartache but I can’t help feeling so much guilt that he is in there. I know I didn’t force him to beat me or to miss his court case but, I just can’t help feeling sad for him. He tried to kill me but still, if feel sorry for him.

Listen, tough love time. I think you need to re-read the letter. This man didn’t just get angry one night and throw his dinner plate dramatically into a wall- he tried to end your life. He tried to murder you. It might help to say it aloud-my boyfriend wanted me to die.

Notes from an Old Bible

Ephesians 1:20-22: “Which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His right hand in the heavenly places. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under His feet and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church.”

PROBLEMS

This past week the Federal Reserve lifted their rates by 0.75% point increase. They are signaling more tightening was likely this year. They are trying to tighten up our 40 year high inflation. With this increase you can expect a lot of bad things to happen in the U.S. It is certainly going to effect our housing market for it will slow down considerably. The news is flooded with stories that the Biden Administration has us in a recession. Of course, with the second low GPD numbers, the Democrats say, no that’s not true, that it is just a few drops in the GPD. does not mean a recession - change the rules..

La. Attorney General: Biden’s policy is “Go Woke or Starve”

Sixty years ago, President John F. Kennedy pledged to put a man on the moon. It was an ambitious goal that defined an era and inspired American children to dream of what the future might hold. It asked them to consider what they might create, build, and aspire to accomplish as Americans. But the times, as they say, are a changin’.

Today, Joe Biden has made a pledge of his own: to put a man in a woman’s bathroom. Oh yes, with inflation at 9.1%, natural gas and oil prices soaring, and crime at an all-time high, this is the great vision of Biden’s America - one that promises to have the complete opposite effect of Kennedy’s famous speech from 1961.
