Funeral services for Iris Weldon, 93, of Florien were held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Cenchrea Nazarene Church in Florien with the Rev. Dan West and the Rev. Brooks Coburn officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Florien. Visitation was on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, beginning at 5 p.m. at Cenchrea Nazarene Church in Florien. Iris Weldon was born on Monday, January 10, 1921 in Sabine Parish. She passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Many Health Care North in Many. She was a member of Cenchrea Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Weldon; parents, Cleveland and Vernie Stewart; daughter, Sanda Kaye Parker; brothers, G.C. Stewart, Q.L. Stewart, Sammie Stewart and Lee Raymond Stewart and grandson, Phillip. She is survived by her son, Jimmie Weldon and wife, JoAnn of Anacoco; sister, Eloise Thaxton of Natchitoches; brother, Grover Stewart and wife, Betty of West Monroe; seven grandchildren, Cheryl O’Neil and husband, Jeff of Moss Bluff; Steven Parker and wife, Becky of Florien; Tanya Osbourne and husband, David of Florien; Tim Parker and wife, Kim of Florien; John Parker and wife, Terri of Many; Monette Slaughter of Hornbeck and Valarie Bell and husband, Wade of Florien; fourteen great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Trent Parker, Miles Parker, Noah Parker, Josh Slaughter, Brady Bell and Lavon Isgitt. Honorary Pallbearer will be Landon Bell.
