Louise Stutts

Funeral services honoring the life of Louise Smith Stutts, 76, were held January 6 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with the Rev. Roger Bynog, Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Harmony Cemetery in Provencal.

Louise was born October 5, 1942 in Provencal to Minden and Caroline Garthman Smith and entered into rest on January 1, 2019, in Kilgore, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Gerald LaCour, Roger Ashlock, Earl Stutts; and brother, Minden Hall Smith, Jr.

Leo Maynard Linaweaver, 71, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at his residence in Zwolle. He was born on Friday, June 27, 1947 in Lindsborg, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Forest McKinley Linaweaver; mother, Vera Gladys Gordon Linaweaver; sister, Glova Flood; brothers, Maynard Linaweaver, Delbert Linaweaver and Clarence Linaweaver; and nephew, Jimmy Flood, Jr.

Patsy Funderburg

Funeral services for Patsy Ruth Funderburg, 85, of Pleasant Hill, were held December 22 at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill with the Rev. Mike Wilcher officiating. Burial followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery.

She was born on Sunday, November 12, 1933 in Anderson, Mississippi, and passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 in Robeline.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Hatfield; parents, Orville Edward Holloway and Velma Reatha Grissom Holloway; brothers, Bobby and Gary Holloway; and daughter,

Susan Ann Hatfield.

She is survived by her husband, Buddy Funderburg of Pleasant Hill; daughters, Donna Wyatt of Robeline, Carole Purcell of Kentucky, Jana Lynn Hatfield of Burlington, Kentucky and Tanya Lane Hatfield of Pleasant Hill; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Lillie Beth Webb Horton was born October 12, 1939 and passed away on December 4, 2018.

Memorial services will be held on January 5, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church, 173 Magnolia Lane in Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Webb and Ocie Estes Webb Horton; stepfather, Huey P. Horton; husband, John L. Horton; brothers, Alvin Horton and Milton Webb; sister, Mary E. Anderson; nephew, Shane Horton; and friend, Hillard Simpson.

Jack Mouser

Funeral services for Jack Reid Mouser, 86, were held December 29 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Bro. Dennis Aaron officiating and Mr. Ray Darnell assisting. Interment followed at Zwolle Cemetery.

Jack was born September 14, 1932 in Zwolle but was a lifelong resident of Shreveport after serving in the U.S. Navy. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Azella Mouser; wife, Vera Vernell Mouser; brothers, John “Buck,” Tom, and Charlie Mouser; and sisters, Marie Drew and Irene Pickens.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Evelyn Edgard and Patsy Brandon and husband, Jack; five generations of nieces and nephews; special friend, Frances Rowe; and his beloved companion, Lucky.

Pallbearers were Aaron Mouser, Adam Mouser, Brandon Garsee, Justin Mouser, Roger Dew, and Spencer Jones.

Edward Harris Jr.

Memorial services to honor Edward Lee Harris, Jr., 63, of Noble, were held December 27 at Noble Baptist Church conducted by Bro. Jimmy Price, pastor with Masonic Funeral Rites officiated by Bro. David Miller, District Deputy Grand Lecturer. Mr. Harris passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 following a brief illness.

A longtime resident of Sabine Parish and well known throughout the community, he had helped many through his work as an officer with Peoples State Bank and later as an insurance agent with Louisiana Farm Bureau and had been active in numerous civic organizations and the Masonic Lodge. He was a 1973 graduate of Springhill High School; Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, in 1977; and the LSU School of Banking of the South, Baton Rouge, in 1984. Recently retired, he spent his time enjoying his family He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. Harris Sr. and Lola Mae Harris and brother, James Shelby Harris.

Services to honor the life of Ira Cochran, Jr. were held on December 27 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Marthaville. Burial followed at Marthaville Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

Ira Cochran, Jr., 82 years of age and a resident of Marthaville, passed away on December 25, 2018, in Natchitoches. He was born to Ira J. Cochran, Sr. and Ethel Rivers Cochran Peacock on November 24, 1936.

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Harold Peacock; and sisters, Ima Jean Rawls and Gaylynn Hayes.

Edward “Eddie” Malmay, Jr.

Memorial service for Eddie Malmay, 76, of Zwolle will be held December 27 at 3 p.m. at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Jerry Penfield officiating.

He was born February 15, 1942, and passed away December 16, 2018 at Toledo Retirement.

Eddie was a well-known logger and was a master logger. He spent his life in logging.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Malmay; parents, Ed Malmay, Sr. and Ethel Skinner and stepdad, Louis Skinner; son, Eddie Dean Malmay; brother, “T.J.” Thomas Malmay; and sisters, Elouise Malmay and Laverne Matthews.

John Carroll

John Michael Carroll, 41, of Fisher, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Ardmore, Oklahoma as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born on May 27, 1977 in Natchitoches, the son of Tommy and Kathy (McCauslin) Carroll. He was a 1995 graduate of Florien High School and was employed with Cactus Drilling at his time of death. He spent the last 23 years working in the oilfield. He enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with his children teaching them to hunt, going to and participating in rodeos and spoiling his grandbabies.

James Madiar

The memorial service for James Andrew “Jim” Madiar, 86, will be held December 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle. The family will receive friends and guests from 8 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Father Richard Norsworthy. Interment will follow in Converse Cemetery.

Jim was born in Virden, Illinois to John and Mary Madiar and entered into rest November 16, 2018 in Shreveport. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a retired Construction Inspector.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Madiar; parents John and Mary; sons, Philip Madiar and James Remedies Sr.; daughter Sheila Qualls; grandson Kurt Craig. In addition, sisters, Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Josephine, and Elaine; along with his brothers, John, Joseph, and George.
