A memorial service to honor the life of Ida Elizabeth Mitchell will be held on May 18 at 3 p.m. at Gandy Baptist Church in Florien. Come wearing purple to celebrate her life with us, she was never a fan of the traditional black somber attire.

Ida passed away on Tuesday, April 16,2019 in Many at the age of 64. She was born on August 30, 1954 to Ruby Lamb and William Schultz.

Ida was a kind and living soul who put everyone before herself, she was a strong independent woman who worked her whole life. She worked at Natchitoches Times for 20 plus years, and Sabine Parish School Board for eight years. She was also a foster parent for 10 plus years. She always said that her calling was helping families and loving their children until their mother and fathers got back on track. She never judged, she always seen the good in everyone.

Funeral services for Cynthia Lawane Mitchell Barrois, 50, of Noble, were held May 9 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Parker officiating. Burial followed in the Warren Cemetery.

She was born on Tuesday, November 5, 1968 in Shreveport and passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at her residence in Noble.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Etoyce Mitchell; maternal grandparents, Oda and Dona Mitchell; and paternal grandparents, Wilson and Irene Mitchell.

Memorial services for Bonnie Kathryn Sepulvado Bass Self of Hemphill, Texas and former resident of Zwolle were held on May 13 with service and rosary. She was born December 6, 1959 in Zwolle to Juanita Lopez and Bobby Sepulvado and entered into rest on May 9, 2019. She was a member of St. Pius I Catholic Church and Souled Out for Christ Ministries.

Bonnie loved life and enjoyed having a good time with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and was a kind and sharing woman. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed making people laugh until her last hours.

Preceding Bonnie in death were Joe Bob Huggins; her parents, Juanita Lopez and Bobby Sepulvado; brother, Carl H. Sepulvado; and grandson, Acen Vines.

Dr. Richard John Oosta, 90, passed away April 23, 2019 in Shreveport leaving a legacy of Christian faith, love for family and others, of service and ministering to others and a strong work ethic. He was a beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandfather “PawPaw” and great-grandfather. He was married to Margaret Virginia Stovall Oosta for 67 years.

Betty Mae Jenkins Powell, 84, of Marthaville passed from this life on April 23, 2019. She was born to Willis Edward Jenkins and Lucille Ammons Jenkins on April 1, 1935 in Robeline.

In the pages of the Bible, the Lord inspired the question, “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies…”; though she would never have claimed it, in the gentle, sincere nature of Betty Powell that question was answered. She was always happy; happy with what and whom God had given her and dedicated to her charge. To her, the heart of a person mattered most; she lived life simply, and without pretense, thankful for her many blessings. Behind Betty Mae’s sweet smile and soft-spoken voice was an inner strength, a strength of character, that fought for the goodness in others, established peace in the hearts of her family through life’s struggles, and loved unapologetically, without limitation and without condition.

It is with great sadness that the family of Monty Raymond Lenard announce his passing after a lengthy illness. Mr. Lenard passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the age of 74.

Mr. Lenard will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vera Slipchenko Lenard and his children, Dean Lenard, Christy Bekhit, Penny Ferguson, and Amy Lenard. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, Abby Ferguson, Mariah Lenard, Amber Lenard, Hunter Lenard, Emily Goodson, and two great grandchildren.

He was predeceased in death by his mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Lisenbia Lenard; father, Mr. James E. Lenard; and brothers, Rodney Lenard and Dwight Lenard all of Winnfield.

Kathryn “Sug” Sepulvado Fuller, 87, of the Blue Lake Community, passed away at her home on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. She had lovingly donated her body to science, therefore, her memorial is pending at this time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.W. Fuller; her parents, Pete and Mary Castie Sepulvado; and brothers, Monroe “Bud” Sepulvado, and Melvin “Many” Sepulvado; daughterin-law, Carolyn Bolton; granddaughter, Melissa Bailes; grandson, Anthony Bolton; and great grandson, Zachary Bolton.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tommy Bolton and wife June, Bonnie Bolton, Ronnie Fuller and Connie, and Tammy Bailes and husband Donald; grandchildren, Sheli Bolton Malmay, Monica Bolton, Sonya Procell, Justin Bolton, Starla Stocking, Rebecca Bolton, James Bolton, and Preston Bailes; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
