Beth Morales, 65, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Richard and Janice Hybicki; and brother, John Hybicki.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Jeremiah Morales and wife Kendra, and Max Morales and wife Coralie; daughter, Megan Morales; grandchildren, Collin, Halle, Joshua, Keagan and Dawson; and great grandchildren, Avery, Nadia and Robert.

Cody Meshell

Funeral services for CoDan DeWayne “Cody” Meshell, 31, of Florien was held May 15 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Toro Community with the Reverends Buddy Freeman and Robert Leone officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Cody was born on Saturday, May 7, 1988 in Many, and passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his home in Florien.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Meshell; niece, Faithlynn Meshell; grandfathers, Herbert Meshell and Charlie Pugh; uncle, David Pugh.

Shirley Manshack

Funeral services honoring the life of Shirley Marie Manshack were held May 18 at Henrietta Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Chucky Clark officiating. Burial followed at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Noble.

Shirley was born November 21, 1937 in Noble to Joe Levi Price and Janie Craig and she entered into rest on May 15, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Paddie and Paunell Topkins; and brothers, J.C. Price and Johnnie Price.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Mayo Manshack of Converse; sons, Ronald Hayward Manshack and wife Ann of Converse, Corbitt Wayne Manshack and wife Lauren of Noble and Keith Allen “Cricket” Manshack and wife Nancy of Converse; daughter; Sherry Jane Brosch and husband Daniel of Taylor Texas; sister, Opal Rivers of Cold Springs, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Cecil Avery, Jr.

Funeral services for Cecil Milton Avery Jr., 92, of Zwolle, were held May 17 at Zwolle Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Phillip North officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

He was born on Sunday, December 5, 1926 in Anetta, Texas, and passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at VA Hospital in Shreveport.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Frankie Avery; parents, Cecil M. Avery, Sr. and Mayme Avery White; first wife, Frances Green Avery, the mother of Deana Hurt and Amy Avery Holman; and grandson, Josh Hicks.

Juanita Hayes Bradas

Juanita Bradas, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexandria on Thursday, May 16, 2019. Funeral services celebrating her extraordinary life were May 20 at the Chapel of Hixson Brothers in Alexandria, with the Rev. DeeAnne Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Juanita was born in Dry Prong on November 26, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Bertha Mae Hayes; brothers, Reginald Hayes, Rudolph Hayes, Harold Hayes and sister, Doris Johnson.

Juanita moved to Alexandria in 1950. She graduated from Bolton High School in 1952, where she played in the band, was a member of Y-Teens and attended Pelican State.

James Lee Sr.,

James Arvis Lee Sr., 73, of Center, Texas passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, in Center, Texas. Funeral services were held May 16 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home with Bros. Ron Luman and Travis Lee officiating. Interment followed at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Mr. Lee was born April 16, 1946, in Ebarb to R.D. and Emma Ebarb Lee. He retired from Asplundh Tree Company at the age of 62 following 39 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Center Bible Fellowship.

James “Randy” Martin

James Randal Martin, 68, of Many passed from this life on May 9, 2019, in Shreveport following a short battle with lung cancer.

Born July 14, 1950 to Estes and Minnie Martin in Many J.R. “Randy” Martin was a devoted family man, dedicated educator, avid woodworker, zealous bass fisherman, low bass vocalist, and master gardener. For four decades he served the Sabine Parish School Board as teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, principal, and board member. A longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church of Many, he loved singing in the choir, narrating cantatas with his signature baritone voice, and lending a hand in church landscaping.

Johnny Tippey

Funeral services for Johnny Tippey, 74, of Florien were held May 11 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery in Florien.

He was born on Wednesday, June 28, 1944 in Calion, Arkansas, and passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at his home in Florien.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Bell Bains Tippey.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Tippey of Florien; god daughter, Amanda Remedies and sonin-law Paul of Florien; god sons, Jonathan Remedies of Florien, and Gage Remedies of Florien; sister, Betty Collins of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; brother, Lou Tippey of Houston, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Brian Miller, Cori Funderburk, Ray Funderburk, Jr., Paul Remedies, Jonathan Remedies, Gage Remedies and Benji Funderburk.

Ida Mitchell

A memorial service to honor the life of Ida Elizabeth Mitchell will be held on May 18 at 3 p.m. at Gandy Baptist Church in Florien. Come wearing purple to celebrate her life with us, she was never a fan of the traditional black somber attire.

Ida passed away on Tuesday, April 16,2019 in Many at the age of 64. She was born on August 30, 1954 to Ruby Lamb and William Schultz.

Ida was a kind and living soul who put everyone before herself, she was a strong independent woman who worked her whole life. She worked at Natchitoches Times for 20 plus years, and Sabine Parish School Board for eight years. She was also a foster parent for 10 plus years. She always said that her calling was helping families and loving their children until their mother and fathers got back on track. She never judged, she always seen the good in everyone.

She was born on Tuesday, November 5, 1968 in Shreveport and passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at her residence in Noble.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Etoyce Mitchell; maternal grandparents, Oda and Dona Mitchell; and paternal grandparents, Wilson and Irene Mitchell.
