Marilyn Remedies

Funeral services honoring the life of Marilyn Kay Remedies were held May 31 at Rose-Neath Many Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Leach officiating. Burial followed in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Many. She was born on October 18, 1967 in Sabine Parish to Phillip Remedies and Leola Maxine Grantham Remedies. She entered into rest on May 24, 2018 at 50 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Phyllis. She is survived by her daughters, Amber Leigh Remedies and husband, Doug Webb, of Many and Jacie Celeste Remedies of Many; sister, Pam Sanderson and husband, David, of Many; brothers, James Remedies of Many and Rodney Remedies and wife, Ginger, of Benton; and grandchildren, Bryan Bradley Webb and Morgan LeAnn Webb of Many.

James Richard Bozeman

James Richard Bozeman, M.D., 84, of Lafayette, died peacefully at home Thursday, following his customary early morning trip to Reds, the grocery store and lunch preparation as he readied for his afternoon nap. He was born on October 17, 1933 in Huntington, Texas. He was Lafayette’s first cardiothoracic surgeon, performing the city’s first open heart surgery on Valentine’s Day in 1972 at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital. Dr. Bozeman was a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (SLI) and Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Following his internship and residency in general surgery at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, he completed a two-year fellowship in thoracic surgery at Baylor University-affiliated hospitals in Houston Texas.

Ivon A. Hennigan

Funeral services for Ivon A. Hennigan, 87, of Many will be held June 6 at 10 a.m. at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle of Robeline with the Reverends Roger D. Hennigan and Jody Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lambert Town – Shamrock Cemetery. Visitation was held June 5 at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Robeline. She was born Tuesday, February 3, 1931 in Marthaville and passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Page Quinn and Ola Waters Quinn; son, Alan B. Hennigan; brothers, P. L. Quinn and C. J. Quinn; sisters, Izora Nelson, Beulah Aiken and Nina Ramsey; father-in-law, Clyde L. Hennigan; and her mother-inlaw, Maudie Hennigan. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Hennigan of Many; sons, Rudy Hennigan and wife, Kim, of Robeline, Roger D.

Yvonne Rose Johnson

Yvonne Rose Johnson, 75, passed away on Saturday May 26, 2018 in a Longview care facility. She battled vascular dementia for eleven years. She was born on September 18, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas, but she lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She loved reading, dancing, fishing, listening to Cajun music, but most of all spending time with family. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Valerie Scalisi of Many, Mark Scalisi and Jill of Baton Rouge, and Meloney S. Mitchell and husband, Chris, of Longview, Texas; stepsons, Jerome J. Scalisi, Jr. and Nathan T. Scalisi and wife, Carolyn, of Lake Charles; step daughter, Mary Mae Seitzler and husband Danny, of Prairieville; siblings, Marie Bryson and Joseph Thibodeaux of Lake Charles and Zelma Spell of Westlake; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends who will miss her dearly. He was preceded in death by her parents, Olide and Azalie Thibodeaux; husbands, Jerome J.

Lewis Gossett Craft

Lewis Gossett Craft, 90, of Baton Rouge and formerly of Florien, passed away peacefully at sunrise on May 25, 2018. He was born in Kisatchie on July 27, 1927. He graduated from Kisatchie High School and attended Northwestern State College. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1944 and served in the Pacific theater during WWII in the Philippines and Okinawa, was a member of the Occupation Army in Japan under General MacArthur, and was selected in the initial group of servicemen to comprise the U. S. Air Force in 1946. His duty stations took him to many bases around the country, including Alaska. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Eva Lavelle Newsom Craft, in Houston, Texas. After retirement from a highly decorated career in the Air Force in 1967 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9), he became the Senior Sales Manager for Boise Cascade Corporation, a position he held until his retirement again in 1989.

Funeral Services celebrating the life of Laverne Matthews were held May 23 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Paul Ferrant officiating. She was born on November 12, 1940 to Ed and Ethel Mae Sepulvado Malmay of Zwolle. She went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 20, 2018 at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip “Red Bone” Matthews; parents; son, Mark Anthony Matthews; brother, Thomas Joseph Malmay; and sister, Elouise Malmay.

Clarence “Bob” Hamilton Jr

On May 15, 2018, a faithful servant of God, and an encourager to all, went to Heaven. Clarence Robert “Bob” Hamilton, Jr. was born January 4, 1935 in Lake Charles. He was born to Minnie Mae and Clarence Robert Hamilton, Sr. While at DeRidder High School he was an all-state football and track star, winning numerous medals and awards. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 spending most of his time as a Radar-man, 2nd Class Petty Officer aboard the Pacific U.S.S. Renville. In 1958, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a Billy Graham’s Crusade in Los Angeles, California. Bob met the love of his life, Julie Ernestine “Ernie” Davis, at the First Baptist Church in DeRidder. He liked to tell the funny story that their budding romance almost ended when she said, “put out that cigar or put me out of this car.” Bob never smoked again and the rest is history. Bob attended Louisiana College and received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1962.

Dennis Moore

Funeral services honoring the life of Dennis Wayne Moore was held May 25 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in the St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Noble. Dennis “Big D” Moore was born on April 21, 1949 in Converse to Solon Lem Moore and Verlie Gladys McDonald Moore. He entered into rest on May 21, 2018 at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Baby Boy Moore; and son, Stanley Lane Moore. He is survived by his spouse, Elizabeth Craig Moore of Many; son, Christopher Moore and wife, Elizabeth Childress Moore, of Converse; daughters, Jennifer Kaye Moore, Kasey Denise Moore and Sara Lanette Moore all of Many; grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Moore, Christopher Lane Moore, Kairi Lynne Moore, and Amelia Rose Meshell; sister, Winnie M. Scott of Bossier City; and brother, Thomas Moore and wife, Sandra, of Flint, Texas.

Clara Garcia was born on Sunday, November 14, 1926 in Sabine Parish, and passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph O. “Shorty” Garcia; parents, Joseph Leon Rivers and Patricia Santos Rivers; daughter, Beverly Martinez; granddaughter, Theresa Annette Garcia; brothers, Fred Remedies, Gene Rivers, Joe Rivers, Andrew “Peanut” Rivers, Melvin “Bo” Rivers; and sister, Mary Jane Rivers Garcia. She is survived by her son, Stanley Garcia and wife, Judy, of Zwolle; grandsons, Stephen Garcia and wife, Emily, of Alexandria, Joseph L.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Donald Malmay; and brothers, Michael Anthony Malmay, Donald Ray Malmay and Donald Malmay, Jr. He is survived by his children, David Wade Malmay, Jr. of Zwolle and Brooklynn Paige Malmay of Zwolle; mother, Mary Christell Malmay of Zwolle; sisters, Janie Goyne and husband, Stacey, of El Dorado, Arkansas and Donna Denton of Zwolle; brothers, Jack Malmay of Zwolle and Brent Malmay and wife, Maranda, of Zwolle; nieces and nephews, Crystal Longoria, Joey Rivers, Brandon Rivers, Renisha Rivers, Kyle Malmay, Brianna Malmay and Ashley Malmay; along with a host of family and friends.
