Memorial services for Donald Eugene ”Gene” Beebe, 88, of Anacoco were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at the First Baptist Church of Anacoco with the Rev. D.R. Davis and the Rev. Malcom Self officiating. Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. The family received friends on Saturday, June 14, beginning
at 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. On Monday June 9, 2014, Heaven got a little sweeter. Gene Beebe was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Waldo Putnam and Mary Margaret Beebe. Gene served his country as a bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Gene was an active member of his community of Jonesboro, where he served as a  oliceman

Rev. Douglas Hilton

Funeral services for the Rev. Douglas Hilton, 60, of Hornbeck, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 in the Hornbeck High School gymnasium with the Rev. Lloyd Carroll and the Rev. Wilkie Richmond officiating. Burial followed in the Gum Springs Cemetery under  the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation was held Sunday, June 15 from 4-10 p.m at Gum Springs Baptist Church, and on Monday, June 16 from 9 a.m. until service time in the Hornbeck High School gymnasium. Douglas, the son of Roy and Juanita Ellis Hilton, was born on Oct. 10, 1953 in Leesville. He passed into his eternal home on Thursday, June 12, in Leesville. Doug was a 1971 graduate of Hornbeck High School, and a member of the Sons of Confederacy. He had been employed by Valley Electric Company for over 40 years. He was the pastor of Gum Springs Baptist Church from 1978 until 2011. Doug was an example of a true Christian.

Arlis Gale Green, 79, of Dickson, Tenn., but originally of Pleasant Hill, died in Dickson on May 30. A funeral was held on June 5 at Spann Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackson officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Della Woods Green. Surviving members of the family include his four sons, Perry  Allen Green and Mary of Waverly,
Tenn.; Darren Green and wife, Lisa, of Pleasant Hill; Roderick Green of Waverly, Tenn.; and Marcus Green and wife,
Rita, of Arizona; three daughters, Phyllis Johnson and husband, Van, of Iowa, LA.; Candace Beam and husband, Patrick of Dickson, Tenn.; and Corey Green of Dickson; siblings, Gwynn Hill and Mavis McQuary, both of Houston; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Lois Gellatly Salter, 95, of Houston, Texas, were held on Friday, June 6, 2014 beginning at 1 p.m. at Zwolle First Baptist Church in Zwolle with Dr. Jerry Pennfield and Dr. Vernon Stephenson officiating. Burial followed at the Zwolle Cemetery in Zwolle. Visitation was held on Friday, June 6, 2014, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of service at Zwolle First Baptist Church in Zwolle. Lois Gellatly Salter was born on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1918 in Isla, Texas. She passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Woodland Healthcare Center in Woodlands,Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bell Greer Gellatly; husband, J. Woodrow Salter; and sisters, Ruth Watson and Virginia “Duckie” Cottingham. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Frank of Spring, Texas; two grandsons, Stephen Frank and wife, Alicia and Derrick Frank and wife, Lana; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Walker, Emma, Wyatt and Piper; along with  several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
