Connie “Suzie” Jacks

Funeral services for Connie “Suzie” Jacks, 56, of Hemphill, Texas were held on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Pendleton Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Daniel Davis officiated. Interment followed in the Randolph Cemetery. Suzie was born on Dec. 21, 1957 in Goldsboro, N.C. She entered into eternal rest on Dec. 16, 2014 in Shreveport after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Travis Earl Layfield and aunt, Myrtle Randolph. She is survived by her husband, Buck Jacks of Hemphill, Texas; mother, Bonnie Randolph Layfield of Many; sister, Brenda Shanley and husband, Jim, of Many; brothers, Tim Layfield and wife Debbie of Many, LA, Randy Layfield and wife Lawana of Many, LA; and a host of family and friends. Honoring her as pallbearers were J.D. Hill, Tim Layfield, Timmy Layfield, Randy Layfield, Heath Lemmons, and Michael Shanley. Rose-Neath Funeral Home- Many, LA

Graveside Services for Loretta Gayle Dowden, 51, of Zwolle, were held on Dec. 20, at Bayou Scie Cemetery in Zwolle with the Rev. Dean Hillman officiating. Loretta Gayle Dowden was born on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1963 in Zwolle. She passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at her residence in Zwolle. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Rivers
Nash. She is survived by her exhusband, Ronnie Dowden of Zwolle; sons, Seth Tyler Dowden and wife, Tabitha, of Zwolle and  Noah Kyle Dowden of Zwolle; father, Freddie Nash of Belmont; sister, Cheryl Sepulvado and husband, Randy, of Zwolle; granddaughter, Layla Mae Dowden; nephew, Nathan Dowden; nieces, Chealsea Buster and Rylea Sepulvado; along with a host of  nieces, nephews and friends.  Funeral Services for Judy Carole Byrd, 75, of Florien, were held. on Dec. 10, at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Ricky Robertson officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, ward 2, in Florien. Judy Carole Byrd was born on Friday, July 21, 1939 in Greenville, Texas. She passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at her residence in Florien. She was preceded in death by her parents, N.W. “Dude” and Nadine Isler Sullivan and sister, Sandra Cisco. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Byrd of Florien; daughter, Terri Riddle of Arlington, Texas; son, Blake Byrd of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Jessyca Riddle of Arlington, Texas and Justin Byrd of Austin, Texas; great grandchild, Rylan Riddle along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Ann Burchfield Nelson, 69, of Bossier City passed away on Dec. 7, 2014 at her  home after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 13, 1945 in Greenville, Miss. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vida Dempsey Burchfield and Charles Phillip Burchfield Sr.; brothers Charles Phillip Burchfield Jr. and Edward Earl Burchfield and her late husband, Jimmy Dale Nelson Sr. She is survived by her siblings, Quinton Burchfield, Nelson Burchfield, Nancy Ingram, Sherry Moffett, Phyllis Wilkerson, Judy Danysh, Jo Kath Gilbreath, Raymond Paul Burchfield, Penny Brown, Michael Wayne Burchfield and Teri Blackmon; children, Jimmy Dale Nelson Jr., Stephen R. Nelson, Susan M. Johnson and husband, Tommy, and Jennifer S. Mary Evelyn Lawrence

Mary Evelyn Lawrence, 72, of Branson, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014. She was born Oct. 5, 1942 in Many. Mary  was the daughter of Troy and Bernice Manasco. She was married to Billie Lawrence for over 53 years. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, Gramma, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed many years of creating handmade treasures for family and friends with her excellent crochet, embroidery, needlepoint and sewing skills. Mary’s kind and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by parents; brothers, Milford Manasco, Rodney Manasco and Gordon Manasco and nephews, Matt Bridges and Dawson Lowe. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Billie Lawrence; children, Billie Lawrence, Jr., Beth Vernon and husband, Christopher, Troy Lawrence and Barbara, and Bruce Lawrence and Kathy, and Tammie Robertson; grandchildren, Rory, Savannah, Todd, Samantha, Evan, Garrett, Ian, and Misty, and two great-granddaughters, Serena and Kameryn
