Funeral services for Robert Dale Chandler were held Aug. 19 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Florien with Bro. Carl Scroggs and the Rev. John Lewing officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Robert Dale Chandler was born on Aug. 2, 1968 in Many to Bobby and Meriam Alford Chandler. He passed away in New Mexico on Aug. 13, 2015 at the age of 47. Dale was a 1986 graduate of Florien High School and earned a Bachelor of Nursing degree from University of New Mexico. He had such a kind soul that loved to help and give to others. This was demonstrated through out many facets of his life and of course with his family. He loved spending time with them and spoiling all of his nephews and nieces. He gave daily of himself to all those around him. He collected crosses and loved all his animals. Carolyn Sue Shoemaker Ensinger, born Feb. 23, 1951 in Robeline, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015. A home going service to celebrate her life was held Aug. 14 at Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Robeline, with the Reverends Brian Jennings, Jonathan Leach and T.J. Boyd officiating. Interment followed at Lambert Town Cemetery in Robeline, LA. Carolyn loved her family and friends and her most cherished times were those spent with her family. Carolyn was an active member of Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church who enjoyed family vacations, fishing and drinking coffee. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Lizzie Carnline Shoemaker; brother, Charles Raymond Shoemaker and nephew, Shad DeLane Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Oscar W. Ensinger of Natchitoches; son, Kevin W.

Jerry Cole

Funeral services for Jerry Nelson “Jabo” Cole, 80, 0f Many were held Aug. 17 at Rockett- Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dee Boyet officiating and Pastor Dan West assisting. Interment followed Zion Cemetery. Mr. Cole was born Oct. 27, 1934 in Coushatta and passed away Aug. 14, 2015. Jerry was a retired Navy veteran that served his country from 1953 to 1983. He was a devout Christian, and he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He had a very big and gracious heart. Jerry and his wife, Faye, were in charge of their church’s food pantry in Florien. This gave him great joy to do good for his beloved community. There wasn’t anything he loved more than his family. He was an avid fisherman and bird watcher. Jerry loved to laugh and make others smile. He loved football, and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite. Nothing made him happier than telling you why the Cowboys were better than your team, and they would “whoop” your team’s fanny.

Burial followed in the Prewitt Chapel Cemetery in Hornbeck. Patricia Margurete Gentry was born on Tuesday, July 27, 1926 in Vigo County, Indiana. She passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Christus Schumpert Highland in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ethel Daniels Gooding; husband, Alton Otis Gentry, Sr.; brother, Edward Gooding; sister, Doris Fahey; three great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Irene Self and husband, Danny, of Hornbeck, Doreen Partidge and husband, Don, of Green Cove Springs, Florida and Nancy Arnold of Terre Haute, Indiana; sons, James Ray Gentry and wife, Coliwitichec, of Anchorage, Alaska Lawrence Roy Gentry of Hornbeck and Alton Otis Gentry, Jr.

Graveside services for Jerry Kenneth Mayes, 61, formerly of Converse and Pelican were held on Aug. 13 at the Paul Cemetery in Converse with Karen Cook Harrington and the Rev. Clayton Dyess leading a celebration of life. Jerry passed away on Aug. 7 in his sleep in Natchez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Merle Mayes and Joseph Kenneth Mayes; son, Whitney Lane Mayes and brother, Benny Wayne Bossier. He is survived by two sons that called him, “Boss,” Jeremy Mayes and Corey Mayes; grandchildren, Caleb Wesley Mayes and Kayley Jo Mayes and sister, Judy Mayes of Fort Worth, Texas.
