Casey Small

Funeral services for Casey Lynn Small, 38, of Many, were held on December 5, at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Wilton Anthony officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Many. Casey was born on Monday, March 14, 1977 in DeRidder. He passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Leatha Bearden; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Lou Small; nephew, Blayton Chance Mitchell and stepbrother, Walter Steele. He is survived by his son, Derrick Ryan Small of Offutt AFB, Nebraska; daughter, Kaylie Deanna Small of Many; fianceé, Lindsay Grace Leslie of Many; parents, Larry Patrick Small and stepmother, Sybil of Many and Wilma Brumley and stepfather, Dewayne of Many; sister, Brandy Renee Mitchell of Many; brother, Andrew Carson Small of Shreveport along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Sue Myers

Sue Lynn Jones Myers, 77, of Mansfield, went to be with her Blessed Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, December 3, 2015. Celebration of her life began with a visitation at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield on December 6. Final services began December 7 at Rose- Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield. Interment followed at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont. Sue was born May 20, 1938 in Converse. She grew up in Sabine Parish and lived most of her life in Mansfield. She had a ready smile and an outgoing, loving spirit that radiated God’s love to all she encountered. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pearl Jones of Noble and brother-in-law, Jerry Callens of Lincoln, Texas. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Edwin Lee Myers of Mansfield; sisters, Nelda Callens of Lexington, Texas, and Connie Byers and husband, Lloyd, of Shreveport; close friend, Ron Ebarb; three generations of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Marie Singletary

Funeral services for Marie Singletary, 87 of Marthaville were held on December 2 at Lewis Chapel Pentecostal Church in Marthaville. Interment followed in the Old Pisgah Cemetery. Marie was born on December 11, 1927 in Marthaville. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Grace Home in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Trelia Singletary; parents, Joel and Lela Randolph; brothers, Andrew Randolph, Thurman Randolph and Beford Randolph and son-n-law Donald Lindsey. She is survived by son, Jerry Berry and wife, Rosemary; daughters Carolyn Lee, Charlot Lindsey and Christie Sepulvado and husband, Milton; sister, Dorothy Hill; bother, Emmett Randolph; grandchildren, Deanna Hardin, Scott Berry, Chris Meadows, Shaquila Patrick, Ashlye Lindsey, Senika Free Trelia Harris; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Iris McPherson

Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Iris Marie McPhearson, 101, were at Jennings Chapel in Marthaville with the Rev. David Hill officiating. A graveside service followed at Beulah Cemetery in Marthaville led by Dr. Jeff Jinks. Iris was born in Sabine Parish on August 27, 1914 to Jonah and Lizzy Weeks and passed away on December 1, 2015 at DeSoto Regional Hospital, in Mansfield. Preceding Iris in death were her parents Jonah and Lizzy Jones Weeks; husband, R.C. McPhearson; sons, Rickey Lynn McPhearson, Clyde McPhearson, and Paul Dean McPhearson and five siblings. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, William Henry McPhearson and wife, Yvonne; daughter-in-laws, Nancy McPhearson, and Lurline McPhearson; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmie Weldon

Funeral services for Jimmie Don Weldon, 74, of Anacoco, were held November 12 at the Old Anacoco Baptist Church in Leesville with the Reverend Wayne Chance and John Lewing, II officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Jimmie Don, the son of Ira D. and Iris Stewart Weldon, was born June 23, 1941 in Many. He passed away at his residence in Anacoco, Monday November 9. Jimmie Don loved to fish and hunt, however his passion is his family especially his grandchildren, “Oh how he loves his grandchildren”, and he would always make you laugh. He was preceded by his parents; son, Phillip Weldon and sister Sandra Kay Parker.

Ralph Williams

Ralph Everett Williams, 92, of Hornbeck, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2015. He was born on October 18, 1923 in Rusk, Texas to Annie May Franklin Williams and Johnny Croson Williams. His parents moved him and his four siblings to Pearland, Texas when he was a young boy. His dedicated work ethic started at a young age when he would help his father on the ranch. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was employed in many management roles with the Department of Defense before he made a career as a pipefitter in the construction industry in the Houston area. In 1972 he moved his family to Hornbeck. Ralph was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Right and a member of the Shriners. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

CJ and Lauren Davis

Cedric Terrell Davis, Jr. entered into eternal life on November 13, 2015, followed by his wife, Lauren Davis, on November 14, 2015. A memorial service was held November 21, at Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas with Jason Paredes, Ender Palencia and Juan Carlos Barreras officiating. Interment followed at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas. Lauren was born June 28, 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas. CJ was born November 9, 1989 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. CJ is survived by his parents, Cedric and Susan Davis; sisters, Brittani Davis and fiancé Joey Vu, Emma Lea Davis and Olivia Davis; brother, Jeremy Holster; grandparents, Darrell and Nancy Nash and Willie and Mary Davis and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Lauren is survived by her parents, Troy and Tammy Benthall; sister, Brittney Campos and husband, William; nephews, Jacob and Liam; grandparents, Vance and Odessa Benthal, Earl Westfall and Dalton and Anita Herrington and a hose of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dorothy Bass

Dorothy Victoria Farris Bass, 88, formerly of Florien, passed away on November 14, 2015 in Odessa, Texas. Funeral services were held November 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Many. Burial followed in the Florien Cemetery in Florien. Dorothy was born in Alco on May 5, 1927, to the late John Albert and Carrie Magnolia Holloway Farris. Survivors include her brother, Albert Farris and wife, Garnet; sister, Carolyn Gay Marsh and children, Brenda Weierholt and husband, Ivar, of Bremerton, Washington, John Bass and wife, Rachel, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Nita Evans and husband, Jim, of Midland, Texas and Annette Torrey and husband, Les, of North Scituate, Rhode Island. She leaves a legacy of 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren that she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel M. Bass Jr.; son, Stephen Bass; grandson, Kristen Weierholt; brother, Jimmie Farris and sisters, Vada Busek, and Wordnia McDonnold.

James was born on April 9, 1935 in Sabine Parish. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Sabine Retirement and Rehab Center in Many. Funeral services honoring the life of Dennis Ray Cates, 54, was held November 19, at Union Baptist Church in Florien with the Reverends Larry Bryant and John Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse. Dennis was born in Converse on October 6, 1961 to Charles and Martha Magee Cates and passed away in Shreveport on November 16, 2015. Preceding Dennis in death are his father, Charles Arlon Cates and stepfather, Richard Trimble.
