Funeral services for Wanda L. Tatum, 81, of Converse were held on January 23 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield. A graveside service was held in Sardis Cemetery in Noble. Interment followed in the cemetery. Wanda was born on May 27, 1934 in Stanley. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 22, 2016 in Converse. She was proceeded in death by her parents, J.F. and Lavell Booker; infant daughter, Teresa Tatum and brother, Huey Booker. She is survived by her husband, John Tatum; daughter, Sandra Tatum and husband, Don; sons, Sam Tatum and wife, Susan and Curtis Tatum and wife, DeNise; brother, Franklin Booker; grandchildren, Matt Tatum, Zach Shepherd, Tabi and Cobe Richardson; great grandchildren, Nicholas Tatum, Camerohn Sepulvado, Colbie Richardson and Callie Richardson and special friend Ruby Ford. She was cherished and loved by a host of family and friends.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Jesse James Anderson, 65, were held January 7 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment followed in Centuries Memorial Park. Jesse was born on December 26, 1950 in Lake Charles and passed away on January 2, 2016 in Keithville. He graduated with a B.S. Degree in 1971 and with a Master of Education Degree in 1973 from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time in the chapel. Marie was the daughter of Luther and Mary Lou Coleman Foster. She was born in Morton, Mississippi on October 3, 1927 and passed away January 16, 2016 in Pitkin. Marie retired from Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital after 25 years of work in nursing.

Burial followed in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery. John Franklin Lewis was born on Friday, December 10, 1948 in Shreveport. He passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at his residence in Haughton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin W. Zella Mae Davis

Zella Mae Davis passed away at her home in Seminole, Oklahoma on Friday January 8, 2016 at the age of 87 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Zella was born in Logansport to Ruby L. Cherene and Bunnie Ozella Petty Cherene on February 22, 1928. She was raised in Florien where she married Reginald Ray Davis on July 19, 1946. They lived in Natchitoches where Ray completed his B.S. in Agriculture. They relocated to Westlake in 1952 where they raised three children before returning to Florien. Reginald passed away on July 14, 2010 five days before their 64th wedding anniversary. Zella obtained her LPN license at Sowela Tech in  Lake Charles. She loved to bowl, enjoyed bird watching and sewing. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Westlake. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Many.

“Bud” Shaw Jr.

Lawrence “Bud” Edward Shaw Jr., 76, passed away Saturday morning, January 9, 2016, in his home. Lawrence was born in Bethany, Missouri, to Lawrence Edward Sr. and Lula Mae Slusher Shaw. He retired from the United States Army, he was a Sgt. 1st class, a veteran of the Vietnam War with 2 tours. He was a member of the D.A.V. in Toledo Town, the V.F.W. in Leesville, and the American Legion. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
