Dorothy Lea Mathews passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Sabine Medical Center in Many. She was born on Sunday, December 19, 1926 in Hampton, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband, Matt Mathews of Florien; step-daughter, Gail McAllister of Twin Falls, Idaho; nephews, Billy Wayne Nowlin of Ft. Georgia Slay

Funeral services honoring the life of Georgia Slay, 82, were held May 23 at Dowell Baptist Church in Marthaville with the Reverends Dean and Jimmy McDonald officiating. Burial followed at Old Pisgah Cemetery in Florien. Georgia was born on March 15, 1934 in Marthaville to William and Ida Brewster and passed away on May 20, 2016 with her family by her side. Proceeding her in death were her parents Ida and William Brewster; husband, Alvin Slay; grandson, Donald Slay Jr.; daughter in-law, Wanda Slay; brothers, Troy Brewster, Billy Brewster, Ruben Brewster, Pete Brewster, and Joseph Brewster and sister Mary Cobbs. She is survived by her children, Donald Slay of Belmont and Judy Bass and husband, Warren of Marthaville; and grandchildren, Angie Slay, Stephanie Grizzle Jennifer Rydberg and husband, Michael, Jessica Bass, and Lisa Guevara and husband, Billy. Rose-Neath Funeral Home Many Chapel – (318) 256-0690

Funeral Services for Roma Clarice Boggs, 78, of Shreveport, were held on May 19, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Slaughter officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Roma Clarice Boggs was born on Sunday, October 10, 1937 in Vernon Parish. She passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Life Care Hospital in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Emma Brumley Davis. She is survived by her son, Randell Dale Wyman of Shreveport; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Angela Bean

Funeral services for Angela Renee Bean, 49, of Anacoco were held May 11, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Thomas Craig and the Rev. Richard LaCour officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Renee, the daughter of Cletus Don and Audrey LaNell Withers McInnis, was born on August 6, 1966, in Zwolle. She passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016, at her residence in Anacoco. Renee worked for the Fort Polk Fire Department from 2003 through 2011. She was a volunteer fire fighter for the Anacoco Fire Department. She loved hunting, fishing, her family and faithful sidekick, her dog “Gracie.” She always put others first. According to her family, “She was a force to be reckoned with.” She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bruce Bean of Anacoco; son, R. T.

Helen Schoth

Mrs. Helen Leone Schoth was born on June 13, 1926 to Eli and Fannie Leone of Zwolle. She went peacefully to be with her Lord on May 12, 2016. Helen was married at the age of 18 to Harry Marshall Schoth of Beason, Illinois. They started their life together there, on the Schoth family farm. They parented six of their children on the family farm. A tragedy took the life of their 18-month-old son, Michael Harry Schoth, in the summer of 1960. Five years later the family relocated to Helen’s hometown of Zwolle. They were then blessed with two more children, making her the mother of eight. In 1972, the family purchased a home in Many where she resided for many years. Helen was an active member at St. John’s Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister. Helen was a beautiful, classy lady with numerous accomplishments. She was a very creative, generous and compassionate woman with a flair for decorating. She loved the holidays and baking for her friends and family.

Funeral services for Mary Lee Durrett, 88, of Florien, were held on May 14 at Middle Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial followed in the Middle Creek Cemetery. Mary Lee Durrett was born on Monday, December 26, 1927 in Bloomburg, Texas. She passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Christus Schumpert Grace Home in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Nolan Coburn and Joseph Durrett; parents, George Washington Carter and Mary Elvira Carter; brother, Max Ray Carter; and sisters, Bessie Lee Davis, Junie Farmer, and Ida May Slay. She is survived by her son, Leslie Coburn and wife, Elizabeth of Shreveport; daughter, Mary Louise LaCaze and husband, Steve of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sister, Bertha Hazel of Dodridge, Arkansas; brother, Alton Carter of Ida; one grandchild; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Charlette was born on September 1, 1978 in Shreveport to Kim Leger and Roger Rutherford and passed away on April 28, 2016 with her family by her side. She was the friendliest and most caring person you would ever meet and will be missed by so many. Proceeding her in death were her grandparents, Ray and Rena Rutherford, and Mollie Ruth Meshell; great grandmother, Christina Meshell and uncle, Rodney Rutherford.

Burial followed at St. Catherine Cemetery in Noble. Gracie was born on April 12, 1941 in Converse to Richard and Frances Paddie, and passed away on April 30, 2016 in Converse. Preceding Gracie in death were her husband, Melvin J. Ebarb; parents, Richard and Frances Paddie; sisters, Eva Blankenship, and Josie Etheridge; brothers, Jody Paddie, Rheet Paddie, Tommy Paddie, and grandson Dustin Hardy. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Kenneth Ebarb and wife, Brandi; daughters, Brenda Meshell and husband, Rodney, Cathy Sepulvado and husband Arnold, and Sherry Benson and husband, Charles; brother, John “Hose” Paddie; eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

George Ditrick

Memorial services honoring the life of George W. Ditrick, 84, will be announced at a later date. George was born on September 7, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to Hazel Harmon and Harold Ditrick and passed away on April 28, 2016 with his son by his side. He graduated from Ohio State in 1958 and was an employee for Marathon Oil Company where he retired in October of 1981 after being employed for 23 years. George served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Proceeding him in death were his Parents, Harold and Juanita Ditrick. He is survived by son, Mike Ditrick; daughters, Rebecca Ann, Cynthia Jean, and Sandra Lynn; brothers, Norman Harold and Carl Eugene; step-brother, Arnold Cook and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
