Louise Hays

Louise Whitley Hays were held July 11 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with the Reverends Jeff Coleman and Craig Forque officiating. Burial followed in the Castor Cemetery in Leesville. She was born in Shreveport January 26, 1923 and met her beloved husband, Herman Hays, while he was stationed at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City. They made their home in Leesville around 1948. Louise worked at the Ben Franklin store downtown for many years. Many customers enjoyed and bought her flower arrangements. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church Leesville for over 60 years. She served the Lord by singing in the choir, being active in WMU, working with GAs, keeping records in the Jr. Department and was a member of the DMA (Don’t Mention Age) senior group. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Louise will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs.

Scotty Craig

Scotty Ray Craig, 46, left this world on July 17, 2017 in the comfort of his childhood home. He was born July 29, 1970 in Pineville to Harmon and the late Sandra Craig. Scotty was a very loving person who many people adored. He always had a smile on his face and could make anyone laugh. Scotty loved being around family, laughing and sharing old memories. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Harmon Craig; daughters, Laken of Many, Taylor of Shreveport, and Kyleigh Craig of Shreveport; and a grandson Jeramiah Lynn Lawhorn. The service to celebrate the life of Scotty was held July 24 at Grove Cemetery in Vowells Mill. The family asks that any donations made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery fund, Attn: Kathy Pitts, 160 Cox Lane, Robeline, LA 71469, in Mr. Scotty’s name.

Lillie Williams

Funeral services for Lillie Jewel Williams, 84, of Hornbeck were held July 21 at Oak Grove Bible Baptist Church in Hornbeck, with Bros. John Northway and Edwin Mc- Cullough officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck. She passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at her residence in Hornbeck. Mrs. Williams was born August 11, 1932 to Robert Steven and Lucy Owers Moore on Peason Ridge. In March of 1987, she retired as a cafeteria manager at Hornbeck High School to come home, and help her husband on the farm. She enjoyed life; anytime you saw her, she had a smile on her face. She loved working in her flowerbeds, and if she wasn’t able to get outside you could find her quilting or painting. Her grandkids were her pride and joys, especially her great granddaughter, Harper. They would sit out on the porch and play with all of Maw Maw’s puppies, and eat jello.

Martie Sculthorpe

Funeral services for Martie Sculthorpe, 83, of Many, were held July 13 at the Life Church with the Reverends Tim Carnline and Tommy Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery. She was born Saturday, June 23, 1934 in Ft. Jesup and passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at Many Health Care North in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Charles Carnline and Elnora Virginia Hinton Carnline; brothers, Troy Carnline and Clinton Carnline; and the father of her children, Walter Sculthorpe. She is survived by her sons, Greg Sculthorpe and wife, Susie, of Florien, Mike Sculthorpe and wife, Missy, of Many, and Darien Sculthorpe and wife, Tonia, of Ft. Jessup; sister, Gwen Cook of Many; brother, Bruce Carnline and wife, Shirley, of Shreveport; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Darien Sculthorpe, Chase Sculthorpe, Scotty Carnline, Stanley Cook, Wendell Cook, and Rodney Carnline.

Carolyn Singletary

Funeral services honoring the life of Carolyn Marie Singletary, 68, were held July 22 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield with the Rev. Roland George officiating. Burial followed at Old Pisgah Cemetery in Marthaville. She was born September 21, 1948 to Trelia W. and Marie Singletary and entered into rest on July 19, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her parents. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Warren Chris Meadows, II and wife, La’Rae, of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Montanna Meadows Hoffpauir and husband, Shawn, A’Leeia Meadows, and Trey Martone; great grandchildren, Cora, Hurley and Madden Hoffpauir, and Tessa and Jayden Martone; brother, Jerry D. Berry and wife, Rose Mary, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and sisters, Charlot Lindsey of Belmont, Christie Sepulvado and husband, Milton, of Flatwoods; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ramona Hoffpauir

Ramona L. Hoffpauir, 65, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017. She was born May 17, 1952 to the late Columbus & Alda Manuel Abshire. She loved to play bingo and spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Hoffpauir; son, Warren Hoffpauir; parents; and sister, Bernice Soileau. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bridget Roberson and husband, Blake, and Travis Hoffpauir and wife, Veronica; brothers, Lary Abshire and wife, Lisa, Will Abshire and wife, Joann, Winfred Abshire and wife, Pam, Norman Abshire and wife, Debbie, and Frances Abshire and wife, Lavonda; her dog, Jr. and grand puppies, Lacey and Bailey. Funeral services were held July 13 at Johnson & Brown Funeral Home in Iowa. Burial followed in Hayes Cemetery.

Charlene Allen

Charlene I. Allen was born April 23, 1943 in Many to Nettie Ammons Isgitt and Alton Isgitt and passed away June 23, 2017 at her son Edward’s home in Haughton. Charlene was a veteran of the United State Air Force. She was a member of Belle Park Baptist Church. Charlene was the most selfless woman there was. She raised her three children and supported her family while working all her life. She never met a stranger and helped anyone in need. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She depended on them as much as they depended on her. She loved working in her yard. We will love and miss her each and every day. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ted Milner and Max Allen; parents; sister, Marcella I.
