Estel “Buddy” Eugene Brown Jr.

On Wednesday, October 10, 2017, Estel “Buddy” Eugene Brown, Jr. husband, father, son and brother, passed away suddenly at the age of 52 years. Buddy, better known as “Ten Penny” to his friends, will be forever be remembered for his contagious smile, caring nature and strong work ethic. Born April 22, 1965 in Palm Beach, Florida, he was preceded in death by his parents, Estel Brown, Sr. and Sharon Diane Brown, and father-in-law, Bobby Lee Cooper. Buddy spent most of his life doing what he loved most: driving a big rig, currently driving for Moran (MTI) Trucking, of Robeline. He was a member of Fisher Baptist Church.

James Small, Sr.

A Celebration of Life for James William “Bill” Small, Sr., 95, was held October 18 at First Baptist Church in Many, with Brother Jonathan Bost officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed at Jerusalem Cemetery in Many. Bill was born March 31, 1922 in Many to Kathryn Tubbs Small and Thomas V. Small. He died October 4, 2017, after a brief illness in Shreveport. Bill met Evelyn Frass in New Orleans and the two were married in 1945. They began their life as a military family. Bill enlisted in the Army-Air Corp in 1942, with his brother, Tom and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He transferred to the United States Air Force and served for over 30 years, attaining the rank of Chief Master Sargent. He also served in Korea during the Korean Conflict, as well as three tours of duty in Vietnam. Bill was stationed at bases in Guam, Okinawa, and England, as well as Barksdale Air Force Base and England Air Force Base.

Mrs. Marguerite Ellen Wyatt Montelongo

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Marguerite Ellen Wyatt Montelongo was held October 19 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Burial followed at Pisgah Cemetery near Marthaville. Mrs. Montelongo, 83 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born October 28, 1933, to Carl Wyatt, Sr. and Ethel Nancy Moore Wyatt in Marthaville. She worked for many years at Nichols in Many. A strong and caring woman, she was deeply rooted in her faith. A member of First Baptist in Natchitoches, she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Michael Todd Franks; and her siblings, Carl Wyatt, Jr. and his wife, Bobbie, Gene Wyatt and Charles Glenn Wyatt.

Carolyn Irene Pentecost

Funeral services for Carolyn Irene Pentecost, 58, of Many were held October 20 at Alford Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. She was born Thursday, April 2, 1959 in Lafayette and passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Meadowview Health & Rehab Center in Minden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Lee Pentecost and Irene Ethel Davis Pentecost. She is survived by her sister, Ethel Pentecost Rigsby and husband, David, of Converse; niece, Liz Lewing and husband, Jason, of Many; nephews, John Ginn of Winnfield and Chris Ginn and wife, Amanda, of College Station, Texas; seven great nephews; two great nieces; one great-great-nephew; along with a host of friends. Richard Horn

Richard Franklin Horn, born September 2, 1952, passed away from this life October 5, 2017 at the age of 65. Richard, also known by family and friends as Ricky, was the youngest of 10 children that was born to the late Clifton and Malva Carter Horn of Many. He is survived by his sisters, Bobbye Horn Gooch of Moss Bluff, Bettye Horn Westfall and husband, Murl, of Florien, Sue Horn McNeely and husband, Clyde, of Shreveport and Joy Horn Walker and husband, Benny, of Milam, Texas; and brothers, Jack Horn and wife, Catherine, of Blanchard, and Roy “Teti” Horn and wife, Donna, of Florien. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Merlene Horn, Lynn Horn Oxley and Janice Horn Westfall; and brother, Gene Horn. Visitation was held October 14 at the Belmont Fellowship Hall with graveside service at the Belmont cemetery.

A memorial service for Anthony Craig Baldi, 28, was held October 14 at Lakeside Baptist Church in Many with the Rev. Bill Craft J. officiating. He was born January 27, 1989 in Natchitoches. He was a hard working father and husband. Preceding him in death was his mother, Eva Baldi. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Melinda Torres Baldi; father, Anthony George Baldi Jr.; daughters, Haley Meshell and Keana Meshell; son, Anthony Craig Baldi Jr.; sister, Ashley and husband, Chris Hilton of Saratoga, Texas; nieces, Zoey and Stella Hilton; nephew, Lucca Hilton; mother- in- law, Noel Torres and father-in-law, Kenny Torres of Zwolle; and grandparents, Milton and Cindy Hayden of Many and Mike and Myra Brewer of Bismark, Arkansas.

Audrey Colston

Going Home Services for Audrey Colston, 97, of Many, were held October 17 at Fort Jesup Baptist Church with the Rev. George Treutlein officiating. Burial followed in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery. She was born August 31, 1920, and was a life long resident of Ft. Jessup. She passed away October 14, 2017 at Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Many. Her family was by her side. She was 97 years, 44 days at the time of her departing. Mrs. Colston was a member of Fort Jessup Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Ray Colston and wife, Barbara, of Many and Howard Dewayne Colston and wife, Velva, of Greenwood; sister, Maybelle Jordan of Shreveport.; six grandchildren; 12 great  grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Dewitt Colston; parents, Daniel and Josephine Dees; sister, Ollie Marshall; and brothers, James and Curtis Dees.

Johnnye Mae Butler

Johnnye Mae Sibley Butler was born March 7, 1914 in Many to John and Jessie Lee Cahee Sibley. She went to Glory to join her Lord and Jesus Christ on October 12, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Butler, Sr.; son, Terry Earl Butler and, daughter-in-law, Lizzie Mae Alexis Butler; and son-in-law, Daniel Pool. She leaves four children, Beverly Ann Poole of Navato, California, T.J. Butler, Jr. of Franklinton, Johnny Sibley Butler of Austin, Texas and Jesslynn Charmaine Taylor Butler of Jonesborough, Georgia as she moves to her next life. She completed Grambling High and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge where she received her Undergraduate and Masters Degrees. She did further study at Southeastern University in Hammond. Her career was devoted to teaching in the elementary school system of Washington Parish, including Washington Parish Elementary School and Franklinton Elementary School.

Dee Procell

Funeral services honoring the life of Joseph “Dee” Procell, 64, were held October 7 at Noble Baptist Church in Noble with Brother Jimmy Price officiating. Dee Procell was born to Virgil and Liddie Procell December 11, 1952. Dee was well known in the Logging Industry in Sabine Parish and beyond. He was a strong, brave, courageous man with a heart bigger than the world. Dee always put everyone else before himself. He was known by many people and loved by all. His family was his greatest pride and treasure. God called Dee home after a very courageous battle with cancer. He entered into rest at his home with all his family gathered by his side Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Liddie and Virgil Procell; brother, Thomas Procell; and sisters, Eloise Procell and Margie Stephens. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Angeline Procell; sons, Joseph N. Procell and wife, Sarah and T.J.

Gary Rivers

Funeral services for Gary Mark Rivers, 60, of Noble, were held October 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in the Noble Cemetery. He was born January 23, 1957 in Zwolle. He was the 6th of 7 children to Jacob Leroy Rivers and Letha Rivers. Growing up Gary enjoyed playing outdoors in the woods of Zwolle. He attended high school at Zwolle High where he played basketball and earned a basketball scholarship to Baptist Christian University. At Baptist Christian University he played point guard and broke the school record for the most points scored in a game. He graduated college in 1979 with a bachelor degree in education. On April 24, 1980 he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Aaron. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage and had 3 children. Throughout his life, Gary was known for his impeccable work ethic and involvement in the community.
