Nelda Ashby

Graveside services honoring the life of Nelda Jean Ashby were held April 7 at Hosston Cemetery in Hosston. She was born on July 28, 1943 in San Diego, California to James Virgil Manning II and Frances Dodson Manning. She entered into rest on April 2, 2018 in Shreveport at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Francis Kenneth Ashby; and brother, James Virgil Manning III. She is survived by her sons, John R. Ashby, Sr. of Bossier City and Kevin W. Ashby and wife, Alisha, of Lake Charles; daughter, Elizabeth Harris and husband, Bill, of Noble; sisters, Virginia McLendon and husband, Lee, of San Antonio, Texas and Emma Dennis and husband, Jerry, of New Mexico; brother, John Manning and wife, Jeanette, of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Active Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Ida Arabie

Ida May Arabie of Fisher, was born on December 16, 1929, in Alamosa, Colorado to Lee Sheek and May Jaynes. She passed away on Thurday, March 29, 2018, in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 88. Ida was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was baptized in 1941 and served faithfully for 77 years. Funeral services were held April 7 at the Kingdom Hall in Ball. Ed Quintana officiated. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur James Arabie; parents; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Grady and Joyce Musquiz; sisters, Barbara McNeely, Phyllis Jackson, Thetis Souza and Donna Griffin; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Vivian Marie Brevelle, 62, of Many were held April 5 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Lynn Lawrence and Bill Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Miller Cemetery. She was born on Tuesday, August 9, 1955 in Zwolle, and passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Willmer Miller and Dorothy Faye Richards Miller; grandson, Justin Brevelle; great granddaughter, Kayla Lewis; and sister, Glenda Mary Miller. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Brevelle of Many; sons, Brian “Miller” Brevelle and wife, Arlinda, of Converse and Daniel Brevelle of Many; sisters, Martha Dyess of Many, Linda Thibodeaux of Many, Willmer Fay Self of Coushatta, Pamela Jean Pat Phia-Paul of Houston, Texas, and Beatrice Lewis of Pleasant Hill; brother, Jerry Buddy Miller of Florien; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Brian Keith Vines, 53, of Zwolle were held April 9 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Cyle Clayton officiating. Burial followed in the Sardis Cemetery. He was born on Tuesday, December 29, 1964 in Many, and passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Bossier City. He was preceded in death by his father, Glyn D Vines. He is survived by his wife, Diana Vines of Zwolle; step-daughters, Brandi Rowland of Tacoma, Washington and Taylor Rogers of Zwolle; mother, Alice Laverne Vines of Zwolle; brothers, David Vines of Chicago, Illinois and Jason Vines and wife, Lori, of Noble; step-grandchildren, Santos Rangel, Daviney Rangel, Diana “Baby D” Rangel and Kiya Rowland; aunt, Glenda Vines of Shreveport; nieces, Ashtyn Vines, Cierra Vines and Isabella Vines; nephew, Jackson Simpson; along with a host of friends. Funeral services for Henry Thomas Wilson III, 56, of Pitkin were held March 31 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial followed in the Pisgah Cemetery in Toro under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Henry was born into this life on March 20, 1962 in Shreveport to Henry Thomas Wilson II and Billie Wells Wilson. He passed from this life on March 23, 2018 in Allen Parish. Henry was a 1980 graduate of Florien High School and then attended Louisiana Tech. He was also a volunteer firefighter and was a truck driver for most of his adult life.

Burial followed in the Prospect Cemetery. She was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1981 in Alexandria, and She passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Wallace Potter; maternal grandparents, John and Polly Harris; paternal grandfather, Wallace Potter; and her grandmother, Lois Daniels.

Raymond Anthony Remedes

Raymond Anthony Remedes, 76, entered peacefully into the loving hands of our Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 17 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Zwolle with Father Richard Norsworthy and Father Mike Thang’wa officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors. The life of Raymond Anthony Remedes began on June 9, 1941. He was the youngest of twelve children born to Joe and Elidia Remedes of Zwolle. He grew up in Zwolle attending St. Joseph’s Catholic School for six years and Zwolle High School for six years, where he graduated in 1959. He started working in the woods at the age of 13 cutting pulpwood and making ties for his father. He continued with various jobs in the woods until his graduation where he then was drafted into the Army. Upon his discharge from the army he then went to work for Sabine Lumber Company.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Tommy Joe Kimble Sr. were held March 30 at Rose- Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many with Brother Ronnie Sandifer officiating. He was born on February 10, 1950 to Tommy Joe Kimble and Bessie Jackson Kimble, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2018 at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vivian Woods, Nell Bouregois, and Viola Daigrepont; and brother, Earl Kimble. He is survived by his wife, Elise Parrie; children, Renee Smith and husband, Mike, Tara Jackson and husband, Scott, Elizabeth Broomhall, Tommy Joe Kimble Jr., Tommy L. Kimble and wife, Melissa, and Bobby Kimble; brothers, Richard Kimble and wife, Willie, and Alvin Kimble and wife, Shannon; and eight grandchildren. Honoring him as pallbearers were Billy Woods, Kelly Kimble, Jeffery Kimble Jr., Mack Daigrepont, Dan Heggenstaller and Terry Malone.

She was born on Thursday, September 3, 1925 in Sabine Parish, and passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in Florien. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Dziekan; parents, Needham Sandel and Mamie Bridges Sandel; one brother; and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Brandon of Noble; sons, Larry Dziekan of Lake Charles, Dennis Dziekan of Many and Jerome Dziekan and wife, Debra, of Florien; sister, Mildred Thaxton of Jena; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Eric Todd Knippers, 43, of Many passed from this life on March 19, 2018. Service was held March 22 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in De- Ridder. Pastor Vic Warrick and Pastor Daniel Lowe officiated. Graveside service and burial followed at Friendship Cemetery in Robeline. He was preceded in death by his granddad, Glen Knippers and maternal grandparents, Nita and Floyd Martin. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Madalon Martin Merchant and James of Leesville; father, Glen Dale Knippers of Many; daughter, Lela Akili Knippers and her mother, Laura Blankenship, of Rosepine; son, Justice Driskill of Grand Bay, Alabama; brother, Curtis Andrew Knippers and Ashley of Many; sister, Ashlee Green and Andi Moneti of Perth, Australia; grandmother, Lela Jeanette Knippers of Natchitoches; step-mother, Martha Corley Knippers and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.
