Trump rally features local musicians; marks milestone for Cody Wayne Band

Article Image Alt Text

The Cody Wayne Band, which consists of several local musicians, recently hit an extreme milestone in their career:  That of bring their brand of “Red Dirt” music to President Donald J. Trump’s November 26 Homecoming Rally at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

“It was all kind of a whirlwind,” said bassist Trent Procell, who, along with lead guitarist Zach Early sat down with the Index for an interview following their return home.  “But your Zwolle boy played music for the President of the United States.”

However, despite the rush of them having a meager week between learning of their booking and performing for the President, their road to such a high-profile gig started years before.

Both were born into musical families.  Zach notes that family members played bluegrass on his father’s side of the family and cousins often played together during man opportunities.  Trent was also exposed to music at a very young age through his parents.

When Sabine Parish has a need, her good citizens are faithful to help. The Zwolle Tamale Fiesta Board demonstrated that spirit of generosity recently when they designated one of its official event t-shirts as a fundraising effort to benefit Pink Sisters of Sabine. Pink Sisters serves local breast cancer patients by offering a tote bag of practical items for use during treatment, support and encouragement through social media, and pairing new patients with breast cancer survivor mentors.

On November 8 at their Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, the Zwolle Tamale Fiesta Board led by Pres. Chris Loupe donated a portion of the sales from their “Never Give Up” festival t-shirt to Pink Sisters of Sabine.

Solan Peterson

The 2019 Young Achievers Award goes to Savanah and Siarah Hall, two sisters who have already accomplished much in their lives. Their story is an inspiring and unique one.

Savanah and Siarah Hall moved to Sabine Parish in 2009. They were born to biological parents who were both addicted to drugs and who both chose drugs over being parents. The sisters endured neglect, abuse and repeated abandonment, but came out of their experiences strong and with hopes not altogether dashed by their sad situations.

Savanah once wrote, “We were born in 1998 and 1999. Our parents (to be more accurate, the people who biologically created us) we both in their early 20s when they had us.
